remember after the trial when taylor literally said that she recognizes how privileged she is and how she wants to help those who are less privileged and everyone just,, ignored it?

Seriously, okay. I’m a journalist who covered that goddamned trial. I saw her and her mother cry while Mueller’s attorney pointed to her picture over and over, saying “does this LOOK like someone who was molested?” (Because in the picture she isn’t sobbing, in obvious distress) “Why would she wait so long to report this?” (She took like 20 min, because there were young kids in line right behind Mueller at the meet and greet and didn’t want to make a scene in front of them) “she ruined this man’s career!” (She never reported it to the police, she went out of her way to keep it from the public, she did nothing but tell her radio programming manager what had happened and he took action from there.)

I saw Mueller tell the court how he’d felt invisible while Swift was talking to his grilfriend, and saw him openly admit that this wouldn’t have happened if she’d known he was “with” KYGO. I saw his boss testify that his ratings were already floundering before the event happened, how he’d known Frank Bell, Swift’s radio programming manager, for years, and that he trusted Bell a lot more than a man (Mueller) who’d changed his story multiple times when confronted about the incident.

Y'all, she didn’t do this for publicity. Mueller sued her in public, federal court first. She did nothing but countersue a victimizer who was trying to extort $3 million out of her, when his employment contract was only worth $300 thousand.

She sued him for a dollar. She firmly told the court during her testimony that she was not going to let him make her feel like “this was her fault.” I get that Swift has had some problematic behavior in the past, but what she did during that trial made me genuinely feel like she’s trying to get better. Let’s give her that.
