Someone sent me an ask about Grace and Rocky’s first meeting so thatll probably be the next mini comic!

I originally had it written that the Hail Mary crew also consisted of Mudwings but then I came up with the idea for the medical beds so they are all seawings now. Or… were I guess…

He has about 3 braincells left after the trip over and theyre all thinking the same thing

Winged spacesuits were just not working out for them. Maybe in a few years they could perfect it but unfortunately they don’t have a few years. Sorry Grace.

(I have so many questions. Does this world have more advanced tech than canon WoF, or is the Hail Mary created somehow using animus magic? Possibly a post-Pantalan contact global technology boom? When/where does this exist in the WoF timeline, if at all? I may be overthinking this. You have almost definitely inspired me to make my own WoF/PHM AU ayyyyy)

Heres some answers to your questions and more! Canon Wings of Fire spoiler warning :

Ryland is a rainwing, for a couple reasons A) because their scales change color depending on emotions and I feel like Grace was always pretty open about showing those in the book and movie, and B) for their connection to the sun.

For the most part both Pyrrhia and Pantala are on the same page of we-want-the-sun-to-live, but rainwings are the ones who will feel the impact first and are more vocal about a solution, followed closesly by the leafwings.

Grace is still a teacher in this AU! He works at Jade Mountain Academy.

Upon news of the Petrova prophecy reaching Jade Mountain, Grace is just thankful it doesn’t involve any dragonets as the last known ones did.

Stratt is a nightwing seer. She was made the leader of the Petrova Taskforce after she delivered the prophecy about the Hail Mary mission.

On top of procuring a way to send their combined societal knowledge on the voyage, Stratt also finds a way to send several animus-touched objects aboard that are deemed potentially useful in any way.

They try to find the Dreamvisitors but are unfortunately unable to.

Stratt continues to have visions about Grace ending up as one of the astronauts leading up to launch, but keeps it a secret since she can’t let him run away.

Haven’t 100% decided yet but Im leaning towards Ilyukhina being a seawing, Yáo being a mudwing, and Carl also being a rainwing. Rocky is still an Eridian.

Carl being a rainwing is entirely because I like the juxtaposition of a doesn’t-give-away-his-feelings Carl, and a I’m-every-color-at-once Grace

Pyrrhia and Pantala are able to communicate with each other and send dragons between continents, but for the most part the only ones who regularly go back and forth are royalty or high-ranking officers.

Part of the Sandwing Kingdom as well as a good chunk of the Pantalan desert are used to breed the astrophage for the Hail Mary. They also end up becoming large-scale sites for dragons to seek refuge as the world cools.

After attempting to run from Stratt and the mission, in a panic Grace almost melts the arm off of the doctor sent to sedate him with his venom. Carl ends up having to be the one to do it. It is one of the only times Carl’s scales change with his emotions.

One of the animus objects are the stone tablets that Turtle enchanted. So Grace is able to relay some information back to Pyrrhia from the Hail Mary prior to sending the beetles, but unfortunately he cannot recieve messages from them. A couple of the healing-focused animus enchanted objects are repurposed/fitted into this Hail Mary’s version of armando.

This takes place post Arc 3 (Book 15), theres not an exact year but it has been long enough that the events of canon Wings of Fire are all historical. I’d imagine it has also been long enough for technology to progress quite a bit, yes!

The Hail Mary is largely unchanged in this AU, just slightly larger to account for the bigger passengers and built in a way that is quadroped-friendly. Unlike the book/movie the Hail Mary in this AU is the first (and only) spaceship they’ve made.

(WoF Spoilers) Animus magic no longer exists after book 14 or 15(?), so the only animus-touched objects they have are ones that already existed.

Grace’s biodome on Erid is modeled after a coastal jungle, with large “trees” and platforms for him to sun on. He still enjoys foggy days but does require some amount of sunlight. Basically he’s a gecko with heatlamps lol.

Dubois and Shapiro were both seawings as well.

Originally the whole Hail Mary crew was going to consist of seawings/mudwings to make it easier to account for their specific needs. Those two were chosen specifically because they have the most experience underwater/pressure.

“I can assure you the seawings have nothing to do with this. And no animus is capable of a continent-wide enchantment of this scale.”

“Are you implying you think this is natural? Weather patterns like this have never been observed in recent history, and the seawings remaining unaffected is awfully suspicious.”

“We are far from unaffected. The very palace you stand on is being swallowed by the ocean. Our unique ability to breathe underwater is a coincidence, I assure you.”

“Placing blame is getting us nowhere. I’m just as outraged as the rest of you, but we are jumping to conclusions too fast. Not even every animus on this continent combined could do this. I hate to sound bleak, but I believe what we are witnessing is something much more than any of us.”

“Whats the plan, then? We can’t fight weather, and if no animus could make this happen, surely none of them could stop it either.”

“That is why I was so insistent on bringing you all here. Swiftsight and I have created a continent-wide evacuation plan. In short, we move all non-seawings to the caves of Pyrrhias vast mountain ranges where they’ll be protected from most of the weather. Hopefully it will buy us enough time to figure out what is happening and how to stop it. Or at the very least perhaps we can wait it out.”

“Monsoon explained it to me just before this meeting, yes.”

“And you’re alright with it?”

“What other options are there Resplendent? We can’t leave everyone to fend for themselves. We need to buy time to find a solution. It’s the best plan we have.”

“The be- its the ONLY plan we have! I’m sorry, am I the only one who sees the obvious trap? Every dragon on the continent condensed into one area?! And not to mention-“

Sailfish tried to keep her focus on the rainwing and skywing queen’s conversation, but the sorrowful gaze of the nightwing queen was unrelenting. If she heard Sailfish’s confused thoughts, she did not show it.

To the Perpetual Memory of the Sun is a WoF AU set thousands of years after the brightest night where a mysterious apocalyptic event has caused mass evacuations into the mountains.

The prologue follows a young seawing named Sailfish after she discovers a coastal skywing village submerged under the ocean.

TTPMOTS is a passion project so pages come out sporadically, though I do try to release them as often as possible.

“?! Who said you were?! Maybe I smashed it for my own reasons! I have many opinions. That have nothing to do with you.”

“…”

“What? Did you mean something else? Right about what?”

“About you being the best queen ever madame spiky face.”

“Oh. Yes, well… that is the plan.”

Most dragons don’t come back from death, Comet does.

He’s immortal, and he’s known it for years. After running away and living under the alias “Dusty” he started a new life on the coast, helping to move cargo through Pyrrhia. Aside from the occasional death due to a falling crate, life is quiet, peaceful. But as it always does, Dusty’s luck runs out.

The world ends.

After the evacuation, Dusty finds himself surrounded by strange dragons who he’s never met before, and one he hasn’t seen for a decade. The dragons caged within the stone walls don’t trust each other; accusations of food theft and unfair treatment are a daily occurence, and the outside world being too dangerous to traverse doesn’t help. As the stress of the end reaches its peak, a discovery is made.

Someone has been killed in the mountain.

Panic and chaos erupt as theories emerge about who did it to no avail, previous hatred turns to vicious accusations, it won’t be long before innocent dragons start killing each other as a desperate attempt at self-preservation. It’s then that Dusty realizes, as fate would have it, he alone can reveal who the killer under the mountain is. The only question now : Will any of them live to see the end of the world?

This is a little mock-up book cover I made for TTPMOTS. Currently, it is being made as a webcomic, however I do have plans to write out the story as well. I’m thinking of doing it by chapter, for example once the prologue is fully illustrated I will release it in its written form etc.
