"Of course it's because of the bitch." Jade knew that her bad luck had truly stemmed from the moment that the goddess had invited herself into her body, and she was helpless to stop it. Everyone was helpless to stop it until the point of no return. The witch snorted, "I should have known you held the candle for dick, Colin. Why else would someone run from a marriage to Bishop of all people? Especially after she stupidly sold her soul." Not that she really had any say in the matter, when at the end of the road, she had also sold her soul. For her, though... it was survival. She had failed to kill the traitors, and it was only a matter of time before her uncle came for her. Jadis rotated her hands slowly, noticing that her favorite rings were gone; no doubt Bellora's way to take away her weapons, not that she was strong enough to use her own blood to fuel her magic. She leaned heavily against the bars, conserving as much energy as she could, even though the cold was biting into her through the flimsy dress the goddess had put on her like she was playing dollies. Absolutely disgusting. "Very stupid question, but I don't hate it," the witch sighed, "no, I'm not okay. I know why she left my body. I can't sustain her anymore, and she left me alive with just enough juice so she could watch me die slowly. And painfully, since she dumped me with the fangers." Jadis pursed her lips, the dim light swallowing her silence. If she sat here, thinking about how miserable her life was until this point, she could almost laugh, but not this time. This time... she was fucking angry. Angry that her life had constantly been tossed about by hands that were not her own. And... sad. An almost gut-wrenching sadness that she couldn't comprehend, but knew it was the loss of what could have been. "Let's face it, Colin, I'm not making it out of here alive, but I have enough strength in me for one last fight, and I'm going to get you out." It was the reality of the situation. She wasn't strong enough to make it two steps out of whatever hellhole they were in after expending the last of her energy. Her voice cracked, and she was too tired to school her emotions. "Someone has to live– someone has to tell people what happened to me. Tell Fraser that I didn't abandon him, or tell my kids that I'm sorry I never turned out to be the mom that they had, and it's going to be you."
Colin breathed a hum, leaning his head against the brick-lined wall and glancing at the miniscule window filtering a sliver of light through the dirty pane. It's anyone's guess where they were actually being held, the home Bellora took refuge in didn't likely come with a fully equipped dungeon, but this felt very on point for a vampire overlord mob boss. "Right, you didn't know I was gay." The witch's eyes found the other again, "Isabel never did anything wrong, that's what it's never been about. I would've married her if it made her happy." Yet, it wouldn't have made him happy living a lie. They were childhood best friends, partners in everything they did, an enforcer and a healer destined to marry and contribute to the coven's growing population. He had his regrets knowing the longer he and Bel dated, the more he used her for his own protective measures. Hiding behind a relationship that kept him from the council's scrutiny over his preferences. There were easier methods ending the ruse, claiming they were better off as friends, but then the urging came to put a rock on Isabel's finger and it was too late. Nearly dying and forcing his best friend into a soul-selling deal with the Prince of Pride pushed Colin over the edge. The guilt grew unbearable and he ran far until he could not see Ivy Hollow in his side mirror. "Look on the bright side if there is one, at least she isn't using you like her little puppet anymore. I don't care if Henrik skewers me, Jadis, I'm not letting him put a hand on you." Colin studied the blonde for a moment, noting the thin dress adorning her frame that was not the hex witch's style at all. And the temperature in this place wasn't the warmest. He leaned forward slightly, taking the moment to divest himself of his favorite jacket before squeezing it through the bars and sliding it across the floor until it collided with Jade's cell door. "No, hey, don't talk like that." He spoke firmly, spending a pause rising to his feet and focusing his full attention on her so she could see that they were both getting out of here. "Do you really think I would make a break for it without you? That I'd let you give up on your cousin, on your kids, because you don't think you're strong enough? Jade, look at me," Fingers wrapping around the metal bars, Colin shook his head, "You aren't letting Bellora win, do you know why? You're Jadis fucking Hawke. The hex witch, the fighter, someone stronger than I could ever hope to be. You're the person the God of Time reset multiple timelines for until he got it right because of how much he loves you. I'd give anything to have that." Mikail's face swam into his vision, but he vanished it from view, "I have my regrets, Jade. I let a person I care about sell her soul for me and then I left. Against my better judgement, I fell in love with a vampire whose father I couldn't escape from in the end when I should have ran. I don't really have anyone to go back to. You do. If anyone deserved being saved, it's you."
