became a yes-man to Nickel and a bystander even when Nickel was being toxic snd cruel to others
couldn't properly understand why his team was falling apart until it was too late
hyperfocused on the alliance and basically excluded the rest of his teammates and left them to fend for themselves
TROPHY
tries to hide his craving for attention behind his cocky persona
incredibly insecure and has severe internalized toxic masculinity and gets angry at Knife because he actually grows out of that toxic masculinity and becomes comfortable in himself as the series goes on
isolated from everybody and never truly gets the praise he craves which only drives him to become worse and dive deeper into his self-centred confident persona
SOAP
actually probably one of the most stable in the team
she should have like. never been put in leadership positions though because she tends to get very violent when she gets annoyed at people and yells at them
was suffering with extreme germophobia for a lot of the time she was competing
got taken out early and was one of the only people who was holding this GOD FORSAKEN TEAM together
MICROPHONE
very anxious even from the start, she was never able to really fit in, even more so than others
not able to prove her worth to the team and her team showed obvious distain towards her which only isolated her even more than she was because of not being in the FUCKING ALLIANCE HGHTJTJTJRR
lost the only two people who really bothered to be her friend (soap and cheesy) very early on which caused her to be more isolated
then fell to the manipulation of Taco because she was desperate for praise and to be accepted
quit the game because it drove her to commit things she did not like and turned her into a person she didn't want to be
CHEESY
treated only like a joke and when the joke got old so did he so everybody basically annoyed him
wasn't in The God Damn Evil Alliance
eliminated very early so thankfully he was spared from The Evilness Of Mid-Late Season 2 but also wasn't there to keep that team stable in anyway
BALLOON
was apart of THAT FUCKING ALLIANCE THAT I FUCKING HATE.
was literally tortured and verbally berated by Nickel and only Suitcase protected him
was isolated because the alliance literally never ever talked to anyone outside the alliance and everyone thought he was evil when he literally was just somewhat of an asshole and wasn't even really good at that
the alliance he was in literally set him up for failure and crushed his self-esteem and any joy in him and fucking deflated him.
SUITCASE
the alliance.
was also berated by Nickel and was also often treated like she was fucking stupid and the alliance tried to screw her over too
literally had nobody outside of the alliance.
NOBODY noticed that she suffers from hallucinations??? NOBODY???? that's not even like a fucking hidden thing and they didn't even go like "are you good suitcase?" they were COMPLETELY shocked and acted like she was #1 mentally stable before the reveal
literally got treated like shit for standing up to someone who was berating her and her friend and like she was the scum of the earth
Baseball acted surprised when she picked Knife (who actually HELPED her??) over him even after she literally told him how he made her feel
had to slowly lose her whole entire team and lost most of her alliance like mid season 2 and was isolated from everyone else and ignored
DOUGH

struggled with being close-minded and only thinking she had the "right" perspective
while at first she could be seen as rude, she grew as a person and became very accepting of her teammates and their perspectives and grew closer to them
grew very protective of her friends and geniunely formed deep connections with them
FAN
was very codependent on the egg and closed off
he suffered with projecting his feelings onto a lot of things and not being happy when things didn't go how he wanted them to
he learnt to open up more and also to accept things as they are and to not be rigid in his ways
YIN-YANG
also suffered from being eliminated early
their team was very confused on them but they weren't really hateful, just didn't understand them
I'm sorry for pulling in s3 cause this is a s2 rant but we do see that other Bright Lighters (ex. Paintbrush) would be supportive of them if they had more time together to bond and grow
APPLE
was REALLY mean to Marshmallow and then got VERY codependent with her
Bow sabotaged her relationship with Marshmallow and they were on bad terms for a while
Apple and Marshmallow actually made up healthily and didn't hold grudges or treat eachother like shit after the fact for it
Apple developed a normal relationship with Marshmallow and she was able to leave the game willingly!! (and was spared from the horrors)
MARSHMALLOW
she felt depressed in the game and like it wasn't properly fulfilling to her and that it tore people (COUGH COUGH GRANDSLAMS COUGH COUGH) apart
she was ABLE to get away from the game before it screwed her over severely and her team was supportive once they found out!!
she's still friends with her teammates and they didn't treat her like shit and beat her to death
PAINTBRUSH
they struggled with lashing out at people and being very strict and single-minded
their team leader actually tried to understand them and see their point of view and helped them overcome these struggles
they became less irritable and were happy to take their team leader home with them, eliminated
they literally didn't care that she quit the game and were actually really supportive
YOU SEE HOW THE BRIGHT LIGHTS GROW AS PEOPLE?? WHILE THE GRAND SLAMS REGRESS AS PEOPLE FOR MOST OF THE SERIES.
THE GRAND SLAMS ARE SO DYSFUCTIONAL AND THE BRIGHT LIGHTS REALLY SHINE A LIGHT (PUN INTENDED) ON THAT. THEY PULL EACHOTHER DOWN AND CAUSE EACHOTHER GET STUCK IN HORRIBLE CYCLES AND ISOLATE EACHOTHER AND JUST WORSEN EACHOTHER.
THE BRIGHT LIGHTS AREN'T PERFEFT BUT THEY GENIUNELY TRY TO HELP EACHOTHER AND BOOST EACHOTHER UP AND TALK ABOUT THEIR PROBLEMS BEFORE IT'S SNOWBALLED INTO A HUGE MESS!!!
CLAWING AT EVERYBODY. PLEASE. THE BRIGHT LIGHTS AND THE GRAND SLAMS ARE A FUCTIONAL VS DYSFUCTIONAL FAMILY AND SHOW HOW EVEN IF A DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY WILL "WIN" THEY AREN'T EVER TRULY HAPPY BECAUSE TO WIN THEY PUSH THROUGH ABUSE, PAIN, AND BETRAYAL AND THE FUCTIONAL FAMILY TURNS OUT HAPPIER IN THE END BECAUSE THEY FIND MEANING OUTSIDE OF WHAT THEY WERE REACHING FOR THAT WAS ONLY HURTING THEM IN THE END PLEASEE 😭😭😭

I need to make. A whole essay video on. How the Grand Slams were a horrible team and were destined to fail and were a dysfunctional family and the symbolism of Bright Lights who are mostly functional and have grown to love eachother VS. Grand Slams who only got worse as the series went on and how even though two Grand Slammers were in the finale two a lot of it was just because they were really dysfunctional and were able to betray eachother easier because they didn't have that family bond and many of the Bright Lights forfeited the game because they found purpose outside of it and grew geniune bonds with people and didn't need the game and loved eachother and felt safe in their team and HHHHHH
Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl always makes us want to bawl our eyes out and makes us remember all the stuff from our life (not remember new stuff. just like. remember the stuff we already remember exists) and we get blurry and hopeful and distraught at the same time and idk how to explain it
You are not a fake system because you can't hear your alters, most of us can't! Most people with DID have very limited communication between alters in general.
You are not a fake system because you don't know your headcount, or you don't know your alters names. That can take years! For some people, they need a long time in treatment to even get that ball rolling.
