I vividly recall a debate in grade 10 or something bio class were we were designated specific sides of the pro/anti GMO argument to research A person in the team I was up against said something like āGMOs have been correlated with [something bad, I canāt remember what] in studies done on rats and rats share [some big percentage] of their DNA with usā and I immediately rebutted that with a ājust because something has been researched on rats does not mean itās applicable to humansā and literally everyone in that class (including the teacher, whom I lowkey disliked from that point onwards) laughed at me
Years later, in university pursuing a life science degree, I attend a neuroscience conference and get told by multiple big-name researchers that we have results of drug trials, research experiments, etc which do fantastic on rats but completely awfully in humans and the moral of the story is that Iām still salty and that 14 year old me was more correct than the biology teacher what do you know :) :) :)
Good morning itās been at least 4 years since this and Iām still salty
I mean we share like 60% Of our DNA w/bananas? Yeah big woop about rats⦠that doesnāt mean theyāre right!
