Robin is a sarcastic photographer. He’s not generally very friendly, and has a “resting bitch-face.” He’s not a bad guy, however, just a little moody. Once people get past his solid exterior, he’s protective and loyal. He cares a great deal about the people who put an effort into being a part of his life. 

Our hometown’s in the dark.

Robin was always a prickly kid. His father was, as Robin liked to describe him, a “fucking pussy.” His father was a submissive, ass-kissing wuss. His mother, a successful CEO, was a terrifying woman, but his father acted like she was literally Satan. Although, sometimes Robin had to agree; while his mother was a respected woman in her industry, she was still an abusive bitch. She emotionally, verbally, and physically abused both him and his dad.

Robin’s father finally decided to grow a spine when Robin was 20. He got a call saying they were divorcing, and that there would be no custody battle because he was an adult. But, his mother, still ever the bitch, was still able to control him. After the fiasco with the moon creatures, and the law being passed, his mother dropped off the radar briefly. When she returned, Robin was once again reminded of how much he hated her. 

She got him evicted from his apartment, and forced him to live in a new place; Zenith Apartments. It turned out that she was the CEO of that company now, profiting off the co-species complex and the desperate humans and moon creatures in need of a place to live. The joke was on his mother, though, because he didn’t think it was so bad.

~ Robin has IED (Intermittent Explosive Disorder); a behavioral disorder resulting in sudden, explosive episodes of violence that are seemingly disproportionate to the situation (overreaction). 

~ Robin’s favorite thing to photograph is fields and roads after heavy rain.

~ He has never been in a relationship, nor kissed someone, and is a virgin.

Where we’re from, there’s no sun.

Louis is a geeky bookworm. He’s incredibly awkward, practically socially inept, but his heart’s in the right place. He tends to always carry a book, and rambles. He has a sort of habit for gossiping, not one to keep his mouth shut--unless it’s to keep any spoilers to himself. He’s the epitome of adorkable.

Louis was always an awkward kid. He would always have much rather sat in his bedroom with a book than be out playing with the other boys. He’d get picked on sometimes by older kids who said that books were for girls. He just asked them what ‘intelligent’ meant, and laughed when they stormed away. His mother was always worrisome, afraid that he would get into trouble; she worried about practically everything. Louis’ father was her polar opposite; laid back and rebellious. Louis took after his mother, that much was clear. 

When NASA took him and his parents away, he felt like he was in one of his books; stories about humans were always his favorite. He wasn’t as excited when he was sold to a woman in Australia. Thankfully, he was moved to America once the law was passed granting him citizenship, but he still had spent over a year down under. 

Realizing he needed a place to live, he moved in with his parents, who’d found a place, until he was able to come up with the money to move. Once he had, he was bombarded with ads for Zenith Apartments, and, eager to live truly among humans, he eagerly moved in.

~ Louis is pronounced like Lewis, rather than Louie.

~ Louis actually gained a subtle Aussie accent in his time down under. 

~ Louis’ favorite books are the Chronicles of Narnia.

Where we’re from, there’s no sun.

Kody is a bright astrophile. He’s got a big, in your face type of personality, wanting to be friends with everyone. And, really, everyone wants to be friends with him, too. He’s a kind, understanding, optimistic guy with a slight obsession over space. He can tend to be annoying or overbearing, but doesn’t realize it.

Kody’s head has always been in the stars. He grew up with two mothers, one a teacher and the other a singer. He was a very hyper kid, but had many friends. He was always getting invited to birthday parties and getting fought over to be partners with in class. He was also always obsessed with space, and astrology. He had solar system diagrams, constellation diagrams, glow-in-the-dark stars, even a rocket ship bed.

So, naturally, when NASA found the moon creatures, Kody flipped. And, when they were enslaved as pets, he flipped again, this time not-so-happily. He practically led the protests at the young age of 15, pushing and pushing to get a law passed that granted them freedom. When it passed, he was ecstatic. 

When he found out he could live among the moon creatures, he was grateful he’d put aside money from his college fund for an apartment. He moved out as soon as he turned 18. He was extremely eager to learn more about the moon creature tenants that lived around him.

~ Kody still has glow in the dark stars, but they’re on the ceiling across his whole apartment, and are arranged in real constellations.

~ Kody wants to be an astrology professor. 

~ He doesn’t know who his birth father is. (One of his mothers is his biological mom.)

Where we’re from, there’s no sun.

Tanner is a smart momma’s boy. He was raised with too tight of a leash. His life is very organized and planned, and he follows every rule to a “T”. He has very little street smarts, but is very book smart. Due to not having much freedom, he tends to attach to people quickly, not quite understanding the risks of getting hurt, and is incredibly gullible. He’s extremely polite.

Tanner lived the most apple-pie, white picket fence life you could think of. He was an only child, raised by a stay at home mother who was an active member of the PTA and host of a book club, and a successful father with a 9 to 5 job that called him “sport” and played catch in the front yard with him. He was taught all the proprieties; “yes, sir,” “yes, ma’am,” “no, sir,” “no, ma’am,” et cetera. His parents kept a tight leash on him, and the only sort of disorganization came in the form of NASA’s raid of the moon creatures. 

Tanner was separated from his parents, doomed to become a pet for some human. He was as cooperative as possible, never speaking out of turn and doing as asked, and ended up as the toy of a bratty 6 year old. He was malnourished and mistreated, and so when the law was passed, he got the hell out of dodge. He tried valiantly to find his parents, only to find that they were severely injured in a car crash. 

He was able to see them, but the verdict was that they would die hours from then. When they passed, they passed on money they’d earned for compensation from the crash, and he put a down payment on an apartment in Zenith. 18 and alone for the first time in his life, he struggles to function as an adult.

~ Tanner graduated high school right before he turned 17. 

~ His favorite subject is astronomy, ironically. 

~ He’s terrified of children.

Where we’re from, there’s no sun.

Rain is a shy baker. They tend to be quiet and reserved, but are still very friendly. They’re a mystery, in a way; no one knows too much about them, even their friends. They’re obedient and submissive, not really doing much standing out or standing up for themself. People tend to avoid them out of caution, just in case they’re dangerous, but they really wouldn’t hurt a fly.

Rain’s mother loved to cook, and so did they. Their mother is their best friend, always trading recipes and joking. Ever since Rain’s dad left when they were born, they and their mother have only had each other. When their mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, it was devastating. Their mother couldn’t remember any of the recipes she’d taught them, and, eventually, forgot who they were.

NASA came and took them away, but because Rain’s mother was mentally ill, they held her back for research rather than selling her as a pet. Rain stayed with her. But, just when the law granting their citizenship passed, so did Rain’s mother.

Distraught, Rain threw themself into cooking as a way of therapy, and started working in a bakery, making pastries for other moon creatures. When they heard about Zenith, they started saving up, and once it was finished, they got the hell out of her crappy old apartment and moved into the building.

Where we’re from, there’s no sun.

Opal is a confident kleptomaniac. She’s cocky and brave, and is the life of the party. She’s your typical bad girl. She’s not afraid of anyone, but everyone’s intimidated by her. All the guys want her, and all the girls want to be her. She has a softer side, although it’s never presented, and is worried about keeping up an image and fears rejection.

Opal was brought up in a rich neighborhood, with rich, successful parents and everything money could buy. She was, to say, spoiled. It turned her into a real bitch when she hit her teenage years, but her parents still thought she was the perfect daughter. They didn’t even know she was stealing things right from under their noses. 

Secretly tired of being “perfect,” Opal began taking money from her parents, and started stealing from fellow wealthy friends’ houses. She started drinking, clubbing, everything. She loved it. When the moon creatures were brought to Earth, she knew she’d be getting one, but didn’t particularly care much about it. When the law passed, she was pretty indifferent. 

Zenith Apartments came along, and Opal jumped at the chance to finally move out, while still being privileged enough to have everything paid for. She got one of the more luxurious apartments, said goodbye to her parents, and moved in.

~ While she has 3 cars, she hates driving. 

~ She speaks fluent Italian and Spanish.

Where we’re from, there’s no sun.

Owen is an optimistic artist. He’s a glass half-full kind of guy, always looking on the brighter side of things. He’s friendly, kind, and open, which can be good, but he’s a little naive. He’s one of the people who wanted the moon creatures to be citizens, because he believes they’re people, too. He’s a bit of a social floater, with plenty of acquaintances but no solid friends.

Despite his happy-go-lucky personality, Owen didn’t quite live a good home life. His mother left when he was 9, leaving him with his alcoholic father. He lived the cliche life of a crappy parent and poor economical situation, but he still radiated sunshine. While his real passion was painting, his father insisted he become a mechanic like him. Owen got the hang of fixing cars pretty easily, but he would always get distracted by the oil and grease on his hands and end up painting on the ground with it. 

When NASA brought down the moon creatures, it put a dent in Owen’s happiness. These poor creatures were being forcefully ejected from their homes and sold as pets, and he wouldn’t stand for it. He joined every protest, painted signs for it, and fought for the citizenship law. When it passed, he was ecstatic. He painted more celebratory signs. 

Zenith Apartments was the perfect opportunity for not only an escape from his father, but to interact with the moon creatures, as the building was co-species. He took his “college money” and reserved an apartment, and when they were finished, he said “fuck you” to his dad, packed his stuff, and left. For the first time in a long time, his radiated happiness wasn’t just a side-affect of his personality.

~ Owen was arrested once for doing graffiti for a protest. 

~ He didn’t--and still doesn’t--plan on going to college, but was going to go to one just to get away. 

~ He had braces in middle school.

Where we’re from, there’s no sun. 

Nelson is a lonely musician. He comes off as rude and blunt, but he's just a pessimistic teenager. He’s sarcastic 90% of the time. He really does care about the people closest to him, and is extremely loyal and protective. He's a big romantic sap when it comes to relationships. He's really jumpy and doesn't like it when people touch him, but, ironically, he's very affectionate.

Nelson grew up in probably the most boring household you could think of. His parents didn’t really pay much attention to him, despite being an only child. He grew up alone, for the most part, not really having any friends. He did well in his schooling, and planned to go to college, pursuing music. Nelson was very musical; he was singing as soon as he could talk, and picked up piano when he was 8. Guitar came along when he was 10, evolving into the ukulele when he was 13.

When the humans came to take all the moon creatures to Earth, Nelson was terrified. He was 16, scared, and thrown into the world to be a pet. As a sort of coping mechanism, he acted out; he made himself undesirable. In that year before the law that granted him citizenship was passed, he had 11 different owners. He, having been separated from all family, was homeless from that point on.

When he heard about Zenith Apartments, he jumped at the chance to live there. He began working as many odd jobs as he could, saving up money. When he’d finally had enough, he put down a reserve payment, and tried to find himself a solid job. He ended up working at a music store, and his life started to look up a little. He got his apartment once they’d been built, and had for once truly felt at home. He just hoped it would stay that way.
