hey, guys, so i think this post has been coming for a while, but i recently made the decision to archive this blog. i’ve been on hockeyblr since january of 2017 and i think my time here has come to a pretty natural end. hockeyblr was a community that i loved and it was one that i needed, especially in 2017, but i feel confident that moving on is what’s best for me. i love hockey, i always will, but it’s important for me to take some steps back from it. i also just think that tumblr is no longer the place for me when it comes to posting about hockey and things like that. i do want to say thank you, though. whether you’ve been here since 2017 and followed me across multiple blogs or if you just followed me today, thank you. you provided me with a great community to have been a part of for nearly four years. it’s hard to express what hockeyblr meant to me, but i am really glad that i had it when i did. i’m not planning on deleting this blog, since it’s possible i might want to come back when hockey does, but right now i feel pretty sure that that won’t be something i want. so, i guess this is a goodbye of sorts and a thank you. i love you all 💕

it’s a hard thing to love. like, i love hockey so much, it makes me so happy, but sometimes the bad outweighs the good and it can make it difficult to want to keep up with it. i’ve gotten really worn down with it in the last year, it just seems like everyday that something new would come out that would make me disappointed or question why i loved something that is so against so many of my fundamental beliefs. i really don’t know what the answer here is. i know that when hockey’s good, it’s really good. when it’s bad, it’s really bad. i’ve found taking steps back from it good, though. i’ve always come back to it once i’m feeling a little less emotionally drained by it. it’s okay to distance yourself from it from time to time!

hockey just. gets more and more irredeemable for me, honestly. it’s harder and harder for me to find a reason to engage with this sport as much as i do, even despite how much i love it. the culture that surrounds the sport is just so damaging and it breaks my heart to hear the stories of all the people who have fallen victim to this fucked up thought process the sport creates.
