I am cockroach. I don't think I legally exist anymore and my real name is lost to the streets anyway. I get by being a goon to the various rogues in Gotham City.
I work for almost anyone. I will never work for the Joker, fuck that guy!
Yeah, if you want something done under the radar, I'm up to do it.
//OOC:
Cockroach is an almost 30 year old woman. So tread with caution. She is firmly uninterested in sex and romantic relationships, but will flirt back as social banter.
She has her own morals and leaves her bosses if they try to make her do things or involve her in things she wants nothing to do with.
Anything she says will be Orange.
Rules:
You can ask almost anything unless it oversteps a boundary.
Magic anons are allowed (No pregnancy)
I love roleplay starters. Feel free to chuck them my way.

The crows hop and caw in a loose swarm around Merry. One tugs at hem of their coat and another attempts to undo their bootlaces. Merry smiles, their lack of mask leaving their face bare to the world.
βYeah,β They mutter, βItβs been sometime. Iβve been well, struck out on my own. You?β
"Hood does pay well. And he is keeping an eye out for his goons as well. Clown left this tucked into my door, waved and fucking winked at the nearby traffic cam and skipped away!"
Cockroach takes out a card from her pocket. It's a playcard from a typical card deck. It's a joker with a bloody red grin everyone in Gotham knew all too well scrawled right across it.
"And with Joker having crow's cooks now... I'm worried."
βFuckin clownβ¦β Merry murmurs. They kneel to let a crow hop onto their forearm. The bird cackles and chirps, gently nibbling on Merryβs sleeve as they straighten up.
βIβm not surprised heβs taking over Craneβs territory. No oneβs seen the good doctor in months. Heβs left a power vacuum us little fishes canβt fill so easily.β
"Still giving orders to all his goons. Said the cooks should stay near the scaries. It helped. Noone else was caught since they started the buddy system."
Cockroach sighs and leans her head back.
"I never understood your standing with crows. Or why they hate me."
They scratch the top of the crowβs head, βScavengers understand each other. We pick up the remnants of othersβ hunts. Waste not, want not.β
While Merry had a penchant for dramatics when they worked under Scarecrowβs tutelage, their words now had an ominous vagueness that they lacked before.
Cockroach steps a little back from one crow that was starting to viciously peck at her. She didn't hate them, never could, but they were vicious in their hatered for her. She didn't mind Merry getting more cryptic. Sometimes it was nice. Sometimes she would join in and sometimes, like now, Cockroach just loved the way it took her minds of things.

Gunshots are not exactly uncommon in a city like Gotham. But when it comes from the alley you happen to be passing, it definitely catches attention.
"Lower your weapon and-"
*BANG*
The voice cuts off with a gasp, and something that sounds like it's made of metal clatters to the ground, followed by the sound of fumbled footsteps, and a loud CLANG against a nearby dumpster.
Cockroach heard the voice of the detective who had bought her a meal and actually listened to her. She was ready to go her way, slinking out of sight and not causing any problems, paperwork, or anything like that, when she heard their voice suddenly cut off.
"Fucking merde!"
She carefully follows the sounds of someone going down from a gunshot and steps into the alley.
No voice responds right away. Just pained, uneven gasping, and the sound of fleeing footsteps in the distance.
When she finally rounds the corner to check, it's...the detective that got shot? They're clutching at their stomach, blood soaking through their shirt. Their breathing is uneven. They flinch when they see a figure appear from behind. It's dark, nighttime, so they can't see who the figure is.
They look slightly relieved when they see who it is, but their eyes won't fully focus. But a gunshot is a pretty serious injury, and their body can't really process what happened yet.
"It was only- I was only questioning a witness and they just- what the hell?! I wasn't even there to arrest anyone-"
Their voice is rather strained as they try to hold pressure.
"..y-yeah, I have a radio-"
They try to reach for their jacket pocket, then seize up when the pain flairs up.
Cockroach sighs and helps with one hand to keep their hands on the wound and apply pressure. With her other she fished out the radio and activated it, keeping it close to the Detective's mouth for them to call in whatever needed to be called in. She had no idea what she would need to say and she wanted to make sure that help would come and not be denied because of wrong things said.
They nod slightly in thanks before pressing the button that activates the radio's input. They wince slightly before continuing.
"D-Detective Khoshek, badge number 01746, reporting officer down. Location in an alley near 37th and Mulberry. Gunshot wound to the abdomen, heavy bleeding but conscious for now."
"..p..please hurry.."
As soon as they finish the report, their arm drops to their side again, while their other hand still clutches at their wound. They can hear something along the lines of 'emergency services dispatched' faintly over the radio. They have to pause for a moment. They try to catch their breath, but they can't seem to be able to. Now that there's help coming, they look back at Cockroach.
"...you should go...I'm sure you don't want to..deal with it since you..'don't fuck with cops'..."
They huff something that almost sounds like an attempt at a laugh, remembering their first interaction with her.
She grumbles and presses harder with the cloth from her now newly ripped hoody. That was all she could do, keep the pressure up and the them awake.
"You will hate it, but I found a gig since we met the last time. I'm running with Hood's crowd now. Haven't done anything illegal. Got Joker's attention as well... Best not to speak about that. Hood is a good boss. He cares. Saw a Red Robin with a ballgown and shrike wings before we ever met."
"I am not leaving you until I know you are tended to. I heard two gunshots since you called this in Detective!"
She grumbles, fully knowing it will get her accused of the one shooting the detective and trussed up. Because even if it were moronic, the GCPD had to save face and trusting up a suspect for the whole shooting a detective thing would save face even if that suspect was actually a bystander helping. She just hoped those weren't trigger happy cops who would shoot her for existing near a downed detective.
"Well..thanks..I'll vouch for you, if nothing else..no reason to bring up anything you might have done in the past..they'll..probably leave you alone if I do.."
Their voice is fading slowly. Head drooping slightly. They're fading, but at least help is almost here.
Cockroach looks up. She was trying to not panic, hoping the medics are right there. One of her hands is already changing position to get a hold on a pulse point and searching for it.
The crows hop and caw in a loose swarm around Merry. One tugs at hem of their coat and another attempts to undo their bootlaces. Merry smiles, their lack of mask leaving their face bare to the world.
