The way the HS official team does this whole, "oh we WANT to work with you, you just have to debase yourself and burn your bridges with your partner" (whether that partner is Alice Bowman or GiovanH) and then gets people going "idk man, sure they stalked your partner's social media to find any and every occasion of conversation that isn't sparklingly complementary BUT have you thought about how that makes them feel?" is insane.
Alice wasn't professional? She doesn't work for Homestuck! Bowman wasn't professional? They admit in the email there that they ghosted him (while saying it wasn't ghosting!) As far as he knew, he didn't work for HS either! Alice discussed rumours and made critiques of creators? Man you didn't have to discord search "rumor from:alice bowman" in like 3 servers and look at every single result, this is basically targeting a normal ass fan for just, like... talking.
This is exactly what happened with Gio, where the HS team is soooo sorry that they'll have to ruin their professional relationship with you and badmouth you to the fans over things you didn't even do. (Funny to go after Alice for gossip when they gossip about Gio so much!) It's ridiculous unprofessional bully behavior. It's going scorched earth instead of going "maybe we should be more open and address issues like adults!" It's accusatory in this way where the accuser is just ~defending themselves~.
It would have been soooo easy to go, "Mr. Bowman, we would love to have you back on the team, how can we (as your possible employer) make up past wrongs to you (like not paying you your album royalties and ghosting you unprofessionally?" -- or even, "sorry, we aren't interested in working with you right now, but you'll still get your royalty checks!" but I guess that doesn't get hundreds of Homestuck fans glazing the HS team for being soooo right to ask Bowman to shut his wife up.
