People: Japanese media really has an issue with sexism and it needs to be fixed
H&L: Has a character who witnessed abuse at the hands of his father and lost his mother and sister due to it, became a “scout” (there are guys called scouts in japan who will literally follow girls down the street and try to get him into prostitution by lying and saying it’s modelling) who lurks the streets looking for women who are being harassed or hurt and attacks their harrassers, then takes it one step further and makes a club that is a safe haven for these women, as well as a whole gang dedicated to his cause. Basically pointing out the whole scout problem and making an amazing alternative to it
People: he ransacked Itokan!!!! He’s mean and I don’t know how they expect me to like him! Also he’s weird looking!!! He has metal teeth! Gross!
Honestly tho, Rocky (& White Rascals) is the only one apart from Rude Boys who truly does everything in his power to help those in need.
He suffered through so much as a kid, but didn’t let that get him corrupted (because that would be the easy way out). No. He went and built a safe haven for those in need, and still he pushes forward and is willing to sacrifice himself to keep those dear to him safe.
He doesn’t ask anyone to be his friend or to follow him. Those that do, do so because they love him and respect him and see him for the wonderful person he is under all the trauma and brave front he keeps up to appear strong.
He’s one of the best characters who came out of this franchise and bad-mouthing him would do his character and development such a disservice.
