Greetings tumblr! Time for a little Public Service Announcement!

Etsy and Shipping: so if you’ve never used Etsy before of if you’re new to it, it’s basically the best place on the Web to get handmade and vintage swag. It’s got everything from your grandmothers purse to custom mafe cosplays. Specifically this is more for the Cosplay crowd, since you kids are the ones that are always in a time crunch.

Helpful tips when purchasing from etsy:

1- Check processing times. Your item is most likely hand made, and most likely by a single person. Check out the processing time on your order, some things take days or weeks to get ready for shipping, just because you purchased it doesn’t mean it’s in the mail the next day.

2- Check where the shop is located. I’m based in Canada, but I sell most of my my items to people in the US, that means things take longer to ship, even longer if you’re over seas from the vendor.

3- Read shipping policies. A good seller will have a detailed description of how they ship their items in order to help you figure out what your best options are, I’ve included pictures of where to find shipping policies on the mobile app (on android), on the mobile website and on the desktop website.

4- Contact the shop owner. If you’ve checked over the store and can’t find the information you need or are still confused, contact the shop owner. We’re all here usually minutes away from our phones, ready to answer questions should they arise.

5- Confirm before you buy. It’s a lot easier on the seller to manage shipments and taxes if an order is in one complete sale, there currently isn’t any built in way of upgrading shipping on an already processed order, cancelling the order and/or making a new order to fix/add on are both complicated and messy and can result in a shipment being sent incorrectly, especially if the veneer has lots of orders.

6- Plan ahead. Shop as early as you can, I know Cosplay is partly an art in time crunching, but if you plan on buying parts of your cosplay, make sure you order enough in advance to save yourself express shipping costs.

7- Etsy is not Amazon. Lots of you younger Americans don’t seem to realize that not everything online comes in 2 days with free shipping, shipping costs a lot of money, no matter what site you’re on, always read everything you can before purchasing.
