He was adorable. Big, brown eyes and a cute little tongue that hung out while he followed her. With long, curly brown fur, he was fluffy beyond imagination; as the little yordle found out when the puppy pounced on her stomach and knocked her to the ground.
“Hello there!” she greeted him cheerfully just as the animal licked her face. “Do I taste good? Wait, of course I do. I’m purple.” Lulu giggled, lifting the puppy above her head. “Where did you come from, though? I’m not even to Bandle yet. Did you get lost? You shouldn’t do that, people might be looking for you!”
Jumping to her feet in one swift motion, Lulu resumed her trek across the empty field between the forest and the city she once called home. He followed her as she skipped, perfectly content to rely on a stranger to find his way back. “I’m on my way to visit a friend,” she chirped. “Well, sort of. I mean, I’m definitely visiting him. But he still thinks we’re not friends. Which I guess maybe is true. But that doesn’t mean I’m not trying!”
The city walls were close now. Typically at this point she would turn into a squirrel, but Lulu didn’t want to risk confusing the puppy so much that he ran off. With the sun only just rising, she might be able to get away with it though… it wasn’t as if most yordles were actively looking for her anyway. She couldn’t have been that recognizable, right? “This part might get tricky,” she warned the animal. “I may have to make some squirrels to do it… that way I don’t get in trouble.”
Sure enough, two sleepy-looking guards stood at the gate, preventing strangers with mal-intent from wandering into Bandle in the dark of the night. Lulu tried the direct approach. “Hello!”
The guards blinked, processing who exactly was standing before them.
“I’m on my way to visit a friend. Sort of. Can I come in? Oh! And my puppy friend too.”
Looking at each other, one gave the other a light nod, while the other shook their head. The first, seeming confused, peered back at the purple yordle.
“You know very well that you were banished, Miss Lulu,” the disapproving guard spoke.
Here the other scrunched up his forehead and sighed, finally realizing who they were talking to.
“But I’m not here for trouble!” Lulu pouted. “I only want to make a cake!”
“Please turn around before we have to restrain you. It’s either banishment or pris-”
“TRANSMOGULATE!” And just as she had warned her new animal friend might happen, two very purple squirrels had been made.
The dog looked on in confusion, barking a bit at the panicked creatures that scurried away.
It didn’t take much time from there to get to Teemo’s house. Very few yordles were out, and those who recognized her fled rather than make trouble. Lulu didn’t really mind, knowing at the very least that a day of fun awaited her. “Allllmost there,” she whispered as she crept into his yard and stepped up to the living room window. A quick spell later both she and the puppy were in.
Teemo was not around. Not in the living room. Not in the kitchen. Her fingers twitched when she peaked in the office, desiring another attempt at a book bridge but thought better of it with the puppy here. “Maybe his room?” she whispered to her little friend. “Though last time I went in he thought I was a bad guy… oh! Maybe I should just start on a treat! He did say he’d get the ingrediants for me. And if he’s still not up when I’m done, then we’ll wake him, okay?”
The dog gave a little bark, which Lulu shushed. “Now sit quietly and I’ll make some food.”
Right away, Lulu got started. Bowls, cups, flour, eggs, salt and sugar. Anything and everything she could possibly need came down. The puppy ran circles around her, attempting to pull himself up to counter level to gain sight of the desert. “You know, you just need to be patient!” she chided him, giggling all the while. “I can’t make this instantly! Well… not the kind that lasts anyway. And it really should be made out of something that can really go in our tummies and-”
The puppy was not patient. Desiring to taste whatever it was his friend held in her bowl, the animal sprung upwards, knocking Lulu to the ground where the ceramic bowl shattered.
