This is the second collection I’m releasing from my trunk series titled “Scent of Fall.” For this collection I wanted to create a fall inspired trunk that really capture what fall really means to me. I believe fall has a unique smell and look every year that’s different from the other seasons so that’s why I called this collection the “Scent of Fall.” Each trunk includes a sweater, a button up,dress socks, neck ties and a scented candle. In the wake of voices such as Nas, Notorious B.I.G. and Busta Rhymes, Crete Oxford, better known as Koncrete, set out to embody what all these mc’s represent; to create his own sound and style. Born in the 7th ward of New Orleans, La, Crete spent a major portion of his youth in P.G. County, MD. In Maryland, Crete worked with local artists on numerous projects before moving to Atlanta (where he currently resides) to pursue his music career full-time. This week we are taking time away from the grill to get everyone familiar with the artists that will be performing at the first show on the Live At The Grill Sneaker Tour. If you were at the launch party you’ve already heard some of these artists perform in the cypher but if you weren’t there don’t worry we got you covered! To kick off the “Artist Spotlight” we have PG Country Native/ D.C. resident Matt McGhee. We had the pleasure of meeting Matt Mcghee back when he was 16 in 2010 at Dc to BC “Child’s Play” event that was held in D.C. which was an awesome experience for us because we really got a chance to check out the young movers and shakers in the D.C. area. Even though we spoke briefly I ended up leaving with a copy of his very first recorded project ’93 Til Infinity that he had just released. Fast forward three years later, Matt has released Dress Rehearsal , The Graduation followed by his latest project Award that gained some major attention over at Hot 97 (shout-out to Artistic Manifesto on the co-sign!) Besides being a very unique artist I really admire and respect Matt’s production skills. It’s not too often that you hear an artist that can produce just as well as they can rap. Listening to Matt’s music, you can distinguish his various influences in his records from artists like Kanye, Pharrell, and Jermaine Dupri. Besides being a solo artist Matt has plans working on future projects with his recording crew “Grammy Family” which consists of R Mell, Miles Meraki, CRA SHprez and Jaylen “. If you haven’t had the pleasure of seeing Matt perform live join us June 15th at Kingdom in Richmond, Va to check him out first hand. Live At The Grill Again has been a staple in Virginia and Washington, D.C.’s hip-hop community since its inception in the summer of 2011. Cre8tive Chemistry began #LATGA as an annual event in Fredericksburg, VA in conjunction with SportsZone, but this summer the festivities will hit the cities of Richmond, Washington, D.C. and Fredericksburg. The first official show will be at Kingdom in Richmond, Virginia on June 15th.

To give the people a small dose of what to expect this summer, Cre8tive Chemistry held a launch party and cypher at the SportsZone in Georgetown on May 18 from 6-10. The event boasted a talented lineup of emcees that included Cane, Koncrete, Matt McGhee, Jered Sanders, Farma Wesley, and Marcky Goldchain. 

As the lights dimmed and anticipation mounted, all five emcees delivered quality verses for the cypher, which featured a rugged instrumental from veteran producer Lou Burna. The event was hosted by the charismatic DJ Nonchalant, who spun everything from Wu-Tang Clan to Kanye West to Trinidad Jame$ as the night progressed. Needless to say, the crowd was moving. 

By the time performances were underway, the room was packed full of a diverse and energetic crowd of music lovers and creative minds.  There was technically only one performance from the five emcees in the cypher, but that would be ignoring the impromptu breakdancing and emceeing that came from various attendees throughout the night.

The energy  was incredible from start to finish, and no one was really “too cool” to get down and enjoy the positive vibes. At one point, Cre8tive Chemistry founder Tony Logan was even spotted sitting on the floor, dancing with his eyes closed and a drink in his hand. As Marcky Goldchain summarized, “LATGA was a very smooth affair with a lot of cool people, great networking opportunities, great drinks, hella fun, and an ill start to an excellent summer.”
