isekai story where someone gets isekaied into a small town. the town is in an empire that views amnesia, specifically, as a curse from their favored god that means the person with it must be put to death. the empire does a lot of other fucked up shit too, so the isekaied person is desperate to pretend that yeah, no, they're totally that person and the definitely remember the things that person did.
so the story is a series of comical errors where the person who was isekaied keeps pretending to know who the body they're in originally was, and accidentally getting it right over and over.
then step by step the person and, by extension the reader, finds out that the entire town is people who were isekaied and they're all pretending. it's an unspoken rule that when one of them acts odd, everyone pretends that "oh this is normal for you." and move on.
the god that keeps doing it is trying to summon someone to fix or destroy the empire, and keeps thinking they failed when the isekaied person "miraculously" knows and acts "exactly like" their original self, according to everyone around them, so they just kept doing it until now there's a town of people dragged in from various worlds. this god is also, fed up with constant failures, now just straight up backing up all of the empire's enemies and telling them "fuck that town in particular blow it up" from pure frustration.
