I think you might be onto something there. I know there's support for the Umaril theory, but I'd personally prefer if Umaril was left for Knights of the Nine to avoid any narrative retreading and to just let Darien's arc focus on Meridia and her story rather than a story in which she was a supporting character to someone else.

Now, Meridia refers to the Golden Knight as her will made manifest, and Darien describes himself as a walking, talking Light of Meridia. The Lights of Meridia are described as crystals filled with pieces of Meridia's power, so if we take Darien's statement at face value, we might already know what he is: a person who was implanted with a portion of Meridia's power, likely before his birth.

But Meridia also told us that her Knight has been changed since meeting the Vestige, and that now it cares. This would imply that the piece of power planted in Darien has begun the manifestation process we've seen with Maddy and is developing its own sense of self independent from Meridia. Cut forward to Solstice when we're told that the Light wishes to return home only for it to seize control of Darien and murder all of the Aurorans. That doesn't look like something that wants to go home to me - that looks like something that wants to avoid capture and take freedom, at any cost. A bit like how Maddy was willing to go to any lengths to evade Sheogorath in a bid to remain free, even trying to usurp him as the Prince of Madness and leaving him to die as a mortal if it meant being free.

New trial and class refreshed pushed back to 2027. This will mean we will go a year and a half between trial releases

U51 pushed back her another week, but the Nowhere Vault and rumors still expected to go live with them

Season Two will include both Wolfhunter dungeons as solo dungeons, make them free, AND Greymoor AND Markarth will be base game - thus canonizing their events and making a sequel possible 👀

Other season one events still on schedule, and hey they finally are gonna put battlegrounds back to 3 teams for good!
