Hazy nostalgic flashback montage but instead of a dead wife itโs a defunct kebab shop
Quick shout out to the place that inspired this post, an excellent Chinese Restaurant run entirely by a single family of 1st generation immigrants from Hunan, where My Father used to take me and My Brother after weโd go to the beach, which closed permanently the year my son was born
HAZY NOSTALGIC FLASHBACK INTENSIFIES
Time, she is, how do you say, Relentless, no?
I know this is about missing places. And I do, I miss the restaurants my mother used to cook at. She was a chef. I don't miss any particular recipes per-say, but I miss cooking with her, and I miss being able to call her to ask how to cook. I wish every cook and chef had a cookbook that they could publish for free at the local library when their restaurant closed down, or they moved on to the next job. Someone would sit down and help them write it so the average person could read well enough to at least get close. Because so much knowledge for the working chef is "remove when done" or "add enough" due to the knowledge being stored in their bones.
