INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE OF THE DAY
C.BPM.R Q&A with SUGAR RAY
C.BPM.R. Firstly, thanks for taking the time out to interact with us. Tell us where you are and how you are feeling right now.
Sugar Ray: Hi C.PBM.R ... Iâm doing quite alright thank you. Feeling really energetic
C.BPM.R. Where does your artist name Sugar Ray emanate from, whatâs its meaning & why did you choose it?
Sugar Ray: First of all Sugar Ray Leonard was one of my favourite boxers while Iâm not a boxing fan at all. Started out on my 13th with mixtapes or rather tapes with the name Chocolate Ray ... but when performing at my first Dj gigs in a youth centre we didn't use Dj names at all. It was just your name. Over the years as I started really selling mixtapes I was a bit popular with the ladies working at a bar. So my colleagues always were teasing me telling me that Iâve got a "sugar garden" suiker tuintje as we call it in Dutch with a lot of sweets in it. I always preferred sweet things to eat and my sound of music sometimes is kinda mellow and sweet. So after my first big performance in '95 where I started out as D.M.C. (dance mix constructor) I wasn't happy with the name and thinking of the stories above I thought DJ Sugar Ray would be suitable.
C.BPM.R. Share a few artists that have influenced your sound?
Sugar Ray: I played different styles of music trough out the years, I always stayed dj-ing and it never came to mind to start producing tracks with hard ware, even nowadays when it's easier to get a gig when you're producing ... I just wanna play music and don't limit myself to producing and not having time for just listening and buying music. Therefor I can tell you that there are a lot of artists that I like and a lot of sounds that Iâm playing. But this all comes from the feeling and love I have for the music ...there's no single artist that influenced me. I think they all did influence me. I believe it's more the influence of certain styles that influenced me in this following order ... disco, funk ... reggae R&B Latin dancehall world beats and  ... house lounge ambient ...
C.BPM.R. Thoughts on the current house music scene?
Sugar Ray: Can only speak for what goes on in the Netherlands for now.... Itâs developing and getting bigger and bigger.... With a lot of influences and substiles..... Although not everything's my piece of cake...A love the variety and diversity in it. There something for everybody.
C.BPM.R. How do you define success?
Sugar Ray: Having people loving you for what you do and who you are, being able to influence people in a positive way
C.BPM.R. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Sugar Ray: Playing at your 5 year anniversary with a lot of househeads ;-)
C.BPM.R. How would you describe your sound?
Sugar Ray: Deep and groovy
C.BPM.R. what are you currently working and focusing on? Whatâs on your agenda for the near future?
Sugar Ray: Internet radio ... and organising events to popularise deep and soulful house and house in general at it used to sound in the early beginning of house and that that sound is still available and reviving
C.BPM.R. When did you know you wanted to be a DJ?
Sugar Ray: At the age of 11 ... started at the age of 13
C.BPM.R What is your favourite track of all time?
Sugar Ray: I've got a lot of them and they're not even house ... but may represent the sound we have now in house and lounge music .. For instance Fleedwood Mac with Albatros or The Art of Noise with Moments in love.... Like for house Fatback Band Spanish Hustle ... and lots of lots more
C.BPM.RÂ Is there anything that you would like to achieve away from music?Â
Sugar Ray: Iâd love to help the weak and needy and one of my credos is each one teach one..... So if i'm able to help people throughout my success it would be great
Track Name: Bruce Loko - Peace Within (Extracted from After Dark E.P)
Record Label: Stay True Sounds
Release Date: 04/03/2016
Time Length: 6:35
House Genre: Deep House
From 00:01 itâs a real journey of finding inner peace. Itâs a tune which has instruments you have heard but not in the manner Bruce Loko has arranged the beats. When the bass kicks in and another beat element has joined the tune itâs magical and calming to the soul, as the tune flows with peace within the elements elevate to something which even Bruce Loko wouldnât be able to explain. Itâs a true cloud9 feeling.
 C.BPM.R Track Rating: 10/10

Lemon & Herb - Tomorrow In Detail
Lemon & Herb is a trio of producers/djs from KZN (Kwazulu Natal Province in South Africa), namely Don Sithole, Skhumbuzo Radebe and Thansanqa Ntintili. Ocha Records is excited to present to you their debut full-length release. It includes the hits, "Velani", "Heaven" and "For the Birds" as well as some amazing new tunes that should find a place on your playlist for months and years to come. Lemon & Herb's first release on Ocha Records, "Velani" was supported and beaten into submission by Osunlade, Louie Vega and Black Coffee, to name a few of DJs that we love. Other DJs that supported this moving song included, Culoe de Song, Master Kev, Danny Krivit, Simbad, and Atjazz. But even before that success, they had already won a remix contest for their work on the Atjazz and Robert Owens tune "Love Someone".
