I think if you understand TADC as a deeply personal and direct story centering on transness, emotional/self repression, the inner complexity of cruel people, ego, control, self-destructive tendencies, second chances, and what it means to live a meaningful life, all filtered through the core vision of one person, you'll find a raw expression of all those things, an experience being shared. You'll find a story that is consistent in its theme, subject matter, and quality throughout. Not something impossibly esoteric or flawlessly sophisticated, but a story that puts every piece it needs to into place. A story that completes itself, that says what it needs to and leaves a mark after it does.
Conversely, if you understand TADC as a story to take every single aspect, moment, outcome, and detail totally literally rather than in tandem with the thematic signficance it communicates. Or were looking for a more lore-driven story. Or were hoping for a more rounded exploration of its world and characters, a hollistic dive into the premise it sets up rather than a story barreling towards a specific end goal/a very pointed thematic stance. You're gonna end up disappointed with what you got.
And this is not a moral judgement, I don't think any expectation is at all more correct than another. I actually think my last point is probably even the most fair stance to have. Especially if you don't engage with any secondary material and just look at the show itself, since it doesn't totally establish Jax as a core focus until later in its run. Some storylines do feel very sidelined.
But if you view the show for what it was meant to be rather than what it was expected to be, I personally think it was rather beautiful. Not perfect, not the pinnacle of cinema, but as a trans woman, it was meaningful to me, dearly so. I feel like the standards its being held to aren't totally reasonable. I think it's a story that deserved to be told as it is, I think it's human.
Guy (gender neutral) who gets entirely consumed by their interests but can't ever fucking hold one long enough to actually DO anything
I love transit enthusiasts, I love transit advocacy, but some people's hard-on for fare enforcement officers drives me crazy. Like who cares, this is in no way the most important policy to be advocating for. Save a couple million (drop in the bucket of the budget) to harass poor people for a few dollars that, if we funded transit as much as we do roads, we could probably make outright free. Meanwhile, for instance, car drivers can speed en mass to the point where you're essentially doing something wrong if you're not speeding, and we don't move a muscle. Like, let's take speed cameras vs. fare enforcement:
One serves as a proven deterrent for reckless dangerous driving, it makes our streets safer & encourages a far better driving culture that doesn't default to speeding, and it brings in revenue from people who still refuse to follow the rules, which exist to shape out a specific type of street environment.
Fare enforcement fines people for not paying a few dollars, and also deters people from not paying a few dollars.
These are different things, I hope you can see. And yeah, I admit this is a bit of a "what aboutism" argument. But it's also just one example of a vast vast array of social & economic policy that should be priority over fare enforcement, because they actually would make a way way way bigger difference in improving our cities and people's lives, while also saving cities significant chunks of money, and they don't involve harassing poor people.
Got into looking up old elementary school classmates on google last night, and truly it was like looking through a funhouse mirror of the bright-eyed children I used to know, now donning tailored suits and manicured smiles, underlined with the names of law firms and business groups and management titles. Truly the stuff of nightmares

I REALLY enjoyed the Gameoverse Pilot, but I'm still not over the fact that the character designs are literally all just this
Driving is actually so easy and chill when you don't have another car behind you peer pressuring you into stunt driving
Just discovered the only girl who ever professed a crush on me pre-transition is a lesbian now. Really hammering it home ig
I'm convinced that if we introduced a new major world religion today explicitly about worshipping poor LGBT+ people, within a couple decades time it would still somehow be used to justify a movement by the billionaire class to mass execute queer people or something. Like, how have so many Christians strayed so far from any actual tangible teachings of the New Testament, it's infuriating
Just had the terrifying realization that 2016 was closer to the onset of the pandemic than now is to it. That can't be real

If you have a Splatoon sona/self-insert OC (or just headcanons about your player character), are you...
An Inkling from Greater Inkopolis
An Octoling from the underground Octarian society
An Inkling from the Splatlands
An Octoling from the Splatlands/surface
(From Inkopolis) A "-ling" variety of a different species or hybrid
(From Splatlands) A "-ling" variety of a different species or hybrid
(From Inkopolis) A non-humanoid/other species (jellyfish, crab, etc.)

Other (comment below)
If you have multiple sonas, uhhh pick the one you like most or that's most current
I feel like Sisyphus every time I engage with any Splatoon content that even minorly mentions hairstyles, because there's always the obligatory "how do Inklings get haircuts? It doesn't make sense!" or "wow, inkling haircuts must be painful! Just another reminder of how dark Splatoon lore is" or "wow, Octolings must make so many Octarians every time they cut off their tentacles for a change of haircut!" comments
THEY'RE SHAPESHIFTERS MADE OF INK!!! THEY CAN JUST DO THAT!! I CAN'T KEEP HAVING THIS CONVERSATION
FML NVM I JUST REMEMBERED THE SPLATOON RAIDERS TRAILER WHERE FRYE LITERALLY CUTS THE PC's HAIR, ITS JOEVER FOR ME HEAD IN MY HANDS DON'T LOOK AT ME

WEBTOON canceled The Last Dimension, it's over for me that series is truly one of my most treasured pieces of media ever, I hold that world and story so close to my heart. And I will absolutely be there for when it returns after WEBTOON's cruel and scummy exclusivity deal ends, I will do the three years of waiting and I would do more, but this genuinely is so so heartbreaking, I can't even describe. I can only imagine how the creator feels right now, not just having their story taken but also their livelihood. I hate you WEBTOON, I hate you capitalism
I think my only regret about transitioning is that I'll never get the chance to be yaoiful. Like, ever since I was a little boy I've dreamed of being yaoiful. I've waged wars in my own mind over my right to be yaoiful. But alas, now I am an adult woman who must resign herself to simply fujoing out like the rest of you. le sigh...

Trying to scroll nearly any tag on here related to a minority community and its just wall to wall porn. And its a weirdly complex topic because I vehemently believe sex workers & NSFW content have a right to exist on this platform and not be cordoned off into total obscurity, and at the same time I think minorities should be able to exist in online spaces without the tags they use to connect with each other immediately being reduced to a place for others to look up their sexual fetishization
Good Evening, I'm Vic Michaelis, back with another addition of Very. Important. People.
Who else is better for an island full of characters with a story to tell than the one who will share it with the world?
