CLOUDTHROAT ISSUE 2
excited to announce the second issue of Cloudthroat coming out on July, 24 2017
CALL FOR ART & POETRY - The submission period is now open for our first issue. Cloudthroat is a magazine dedicated to publishing poetry and artwork by queer Indigenous and queer poets/artists of color. Please email submissions to [email protected]
CLOUDTHROAT is derived from the Diné word K’os, which can be translated to both cloud and throat. The magazine is dedicated to publishing new and emerging poetry from queer Indigenous poets and queer poets of color. The definition of Indigenous and queer within CLOUDTHROAT is expansive. We strive to publish poetry that challenges and reimagines concepts of body, border, agency, and homeland. The works should continue to interrupt and conquer structures that long silenced marginalized communities. It is an undertaking at taking back the cosmos in our voices and the science of our expression. CLOUDTHROAT aims to replace teeth and throat with cloud and sky. Guidelines Please submit refined work of up to 3 unpublished poems (5-page limit) and or up to 3 visual art pieces mixed media, installation work, canvas etc. Simultaneous submissions are allowed but please email to withdraw the poem(s) if accepted elsewhere. If accepted in CLOUDTHROAT, the author agrees to grant the magazine First North American Serial Rights. All rights revert back to the poet after publication with permission for CLOUDTHROAT to archive the work online, consider for future print anthologies, and credit CLOUDTHROAT as the first place the work appeared. Poets and other contributors are encouraged to submit photography that range from the amateur to the professional. Please send up to 3 pictures or photos (high res jpg or png files only) with the intention and granting rights for online publication and archival. Unfortunately, CLOUDTHROAT is unable to pay for any submissions accepted. Please send all submissions to [email protected]. Please copy and paste poems directly into body of email when acceptable. Please only include an attachment for uniquely formatted poems and/or photography. In the subject line, please include the category of submission, followed by your name (e.g. “POETRY / JANE DOE”). A cover letter should be included with all submissions that include titles of work and a brief biography and links to bio pages or portfolios.
