Okay I’m just going to expand on this
I am not talking about taking inspiration, I think taking INSPIRATION is perfectly fine! My problem is straight up copying the character.
What do I mean by that?
I’ve noticed a lot of people after the drama with forsaken wanted to escape the fandom. But they grew so attached they couldn’t let go of the literally ONLY 4 CHARACTERS THAT BELONG TO FORSAKEN!!! (MAJORITY of them aren’t ocs that you are free to make your own versions of that character) and they just slap on some knock off name, add a few things to the design, and only slightly change the lore. I’ve seen this A LOT with chance mainly. They don’t even try to chance their character..like guys this is my oC that’s NOT FORSAKEN, Possibility!!
Possibility is friends with Itrapped and they like to gamble! They have rich parents…and they even own their own family business!!!!!!1!1!1! Oh and heh…he’s sorta got ties with the mafia…especially the mob boss, mobby matcha!! Who’s sorta a bunny…heh..
You see what I’m getting at here?
A lot of people try to reason that they’re doing this bc the developers are terrible so that makes it okay to steal…sorry to burst your bubble but no matter how bad someone is STEALING ISNT THE ANSWER.
And then I see some of these ppl get offended when their knock off five below ass “ocs” get mistakes for forsaken…MOTHERFUCKER 😭😭🙏🙏
I’m not even saying forsaken isn’t completely innocent in this area either. I do think slasher is a little bit more original since they did change a lot in the design and lore to where it could be considered an oc, howeverrr it was still supposed to be a ripoff so they couldn’t get copyrighted. Also mafioso is a ripoff of squire and I’m a lil more upset abt this one bc dream game removed those skins from the game for a reason and forsaken’s solution is to just steal one of their characters basically 😭😭 once again I do acknowledge that there are quite a few differences between the characters nonetheless if we look at the context of the situation it just irks me the wrong way.
Just detach yourself from forsaken, I understand that’s really challenging for some people but if you don’t want to support those creators (at least until they get their shit together) then I suggest you just figure out other ways to get yourself out of the fandom. Not stealing. Stealing doesn’t make you any less guilty for consuming that media, in fact it makes you more guilty.
This is most likely the last time I will be talking about forsaken I’ve already expressed how much I hate that game and how much its poisoned certain parts in Roblox lore. When I was in the fandom I didn’t even like 50% of how the game was or written ngl it’s so stupid. (My screen time in that game is literally under a day I was such a LARP…) I just wanted to finally make this post bc I’ve been meaning to since even late last year. I just got really nervous if I would receive backlash for talking about this 🥹

common sense and yet I still see so many creators do this. Honestly that was why I was very nervous abt talking abt this bc of the amount of creators that do this, most of them having much larger platforms than me. I haven’t seen any back lash for this or anything so I thought if I were to make a post I would have literal armies coming after me. (Glad that’s not the case so far..)
yeah, I get it starting from fandoms like fsk for ocs but that’s just not the right foundation if you’re going to just. Like. Copying it entirely. Like we need to teach fandoms to use characters as references not free samples. At the same time it’s so hard for those types of fandoms to be decent in any way..
