Look! Another "Blog" Post! Two in two days! Fascinating.
I have finished my work apron! My job provides us with an apron we must wear if we do not have a shirt with their logo on it (and I am not planning on purchasing a shirt with a logo on it...if they want me to wear it, they can give it to me for free), BUT they also give us the option to make one. I don't have all the details, but I think they cycle through "seasons," and you're allowed to make an apron with fabric related to that season. I think the three for now were fall, Halloween, and back-to-school, perhaps. I went reversible fall/Halloween. My first apron!
The main material has pumpkins and blackbirds on it, and the pocket material is fall leaves that has a gold shimmer on it.
Here the main material has these awesome witches that are doing different things, while rocking sunglasses, and the pocket material has eyeballs on it!
I used Simplicity "Sewing for Dummies" pattern 9565. However, I really used the pattern to cut the material, and didn't follow the actual sewing directions (per usual), because... well, for one, I'm me, and two because mine is reversible and the pattern isn't for a reversible one.
It's neat to think about there being a single word for these feelings. These are real feelings. Perfect.

Treating this like a traditional blog, for once
I have 9 pillow covers done that need to be photographed and then listed.
I have 4 more Doctor Who pillow covers that need to be sewn, which I'll do together as a group.
I have some other odd pillow covers to sew, though I haven't loved some of my designs as of late and have scraped a few designs.
In the meantime, I took a break from pillow cover making to make this bag:
Yes, that is a sewing machine applique. We can't leave stuff in our lockers overnight at work, so I made this to leave my chapstick/hand lotion/advil, etc. in. Then I can leave the bag in the car and not have to transfer that stuff to my purse (which is too small to hold it all anyway).
I even added a zippered pocket inside (first time I'd done a zipper!):
I used Craft Fuse on the outer fabric so the bag would be sturdier. I didn't use a pattern (often how I roll), but it was similar to the bags I had made in high school.
Next up: my Halloween/Fall apron for work! Pictures will follow (after I uh, make it).
Don't forget to check out my Etsy shop here.

I wish I knew where this came from...
There is thunder in our hearts.
Running Up That Hill. Kate Bush/Placebo.
Pitch Perfect (2012)
Bumper: I have a feeling we should kiss. Is that a good feeling or an incorrect feeling?
Fat Amy: Well... sometimes I have the feeling I can do crystal meth, but then I think, mmm... better not.
But lately--I don't know--it's weird--sometimes there's this black crack running down through my stomach, the same one as that time when Cassidy told me what she wanted me to do for her, and I didn't pay attention. Only now it's more like I was daydreaming when the Supreme Being told me what I should do with my life, and it's too late to ask what it was.
Sutter, The Spectacular Now,by Tim Tharp.
Book Review: The Spectacular Now
Another 24-hour period, another book read. Since the last book review I tried reading The White Queen by Phillipa Gregory and ended up just wikipedia-ing all the characters half way through and ruining the ending for myself. Oops.
I wanted to read The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp before I saw the movie (which I think opens nationwide tomorrow...?). Now I'm not sure if I want to even see the movie...

Something important for us twenty-somethings... errr... late-twenty-somethings to remember at these junctures in our lives.
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. "Make level paths for your feet," so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.
Hebrews 12:11-13.
Suffering was originally thought to be as a result of sin. Here it is posited that it is to strengthen us after moments of weakness. This doesn't apply to all suffering, but a lot of the little things in our lives that result from our misjudgments and poor choices.
Doesn't fit in with the traditional scheme of this blog, but it came up on shuffle today and was just too good a memory not to share.
...oh, the days when Pitbull was just Pitbull and not Mr. International or whatever it is he calls himself now in all those songs he puts out that sound like every other song he puts out.
"Wake up, man! High school girls!"

J: Have you ever read "How to Win Friends & Influence People"?
Me: No.... Clearly.
Hey, strangers!
Everyone has a favorite teacher and/or a least favorite teacher. Either way, we can all have a little sympathy for some teachers out there who really try. The phrase "You can bring a [child] to [the classroom], but you can't make them [learn]" is so very, very true.
So help support a teacher a wee bit! Send them a gift: http://redditgifts.com/exchanges/redditgifts-teachers-2013/?inv=6MY.
I think this link should get you to the reddit site, but if not, google "reddit gifts for the teachers 2013."
Cheers!
