âYour art isnât valued by the number of notes you getâ okay but. If you spent 6 hours baking a cake for a party, but no one at the party eats your cake, itâs still disappointing.
This articulates something about the different between value and validation that I didnât previously register on a conscious level.
People are not able to die unless they are debt free. If a person owes anything, they are functionally immortal.
what if someone saves your lifeâŚYouâd literally owe them your life then,so how could you ever die ?Youâd truly be immortalâŚ
The blessing, however, soon turned into a curse. After the incident we became close friends, not ever voicing or even knowing if the debt the universe knew I owed. A few months after we met I realized I had fallen in love with the stranger who was brave enough to smile and tell me they had too gone through what I had been. It was two years later that I preposed and she said yes. I was ecstatic! The wedding was perfect and I admit I cried when I saw her glowing in her elegant dress. Quickly after that my life started to revolve around her. Her smile and how she kissed me every morning. Me making her her preferred breakfasts and dinners, sometimes meeting her for lunch during the work days if her schedule allowed it. It was true we were madly in love. I loved her with my entire being, my whole heart everything I was and still am. As the years passed we noticed something strange, I hadnât aged a day in the ten years we had been married. She sobbed that night as we tried to figure out what debt I could possibly owe anyone. I felt my chest ache and collapse in on itself as I realized if I didnât figure this out and right the debt I would out live my love. She would grow old and perish while I was stuck as I was when the debt was created. We both cried that night. And many nights after. After another two years of trying to pay off all debts I could possibly owe we gave up the fight. The look on her face as she told me she had accepted that she wouldnât outlive me will forever haunt me. She understood that we wouldnât be able to grow old together and that I would left here without her. She gave me permission to find another love after she was gone. Anger filled my stomach at myself for putting her through this. How could I be so selfish!? She was going to spend her life with me and I had many many lifetimes left depending on if I found who I owed or not. How could I take from her her one chance to grow old and meet the one she loved and died with on the other side of whatever this life was? Those questions were never answered. I spent the rest of her life with her. Doing everything she wanted and enjoying making her life as perfect as possible. When she passed I cried for weeks. Inconsolable as I grieved her loss and for the lonely future that was ahead of me. But I had no regrets, I know I had made her life as perfect as I could have and did everything I could to give her all the love I feel for her even now. Slowly the years dragged on and as the world turned I still remained the same. My debt seemed to never be paid off. It was only recently that I figured it out. I owed her my life and that debt I could never repay, I wonder if she knew it before me. Once she passed were her eyes open to that in a sick and twisted way it was my debt to her that kept me from the perfect life of growing old we had planned. I try to think too long on those things. Life is too short to grieve for the past that could have been.
As a person who always pays their debts,I almost died in that bus accident. The glass would've cut me to shreds while the fire barbecued me to the bone, hadn't it been for that 5-year-old boy.Crashing into me with his little football,I got angry beyond imagination.Everything had been going wrong all day long, and this little boy just had to send me tumbling on the rain-soaked floor while I was already late to the bus.Wet,frustrated and late,I shouted at the boy for his clumsiness while he stared at me with his tearfilled blue eyes, only managing a "I'm sorry" before busting out into tears. And if it wasn't for my stupid little warm heart and hopelessness of fixing my state,I calmed him down and went for the second bus.For 20 years after that incident,I didn't notice anything.Only when my friend's hair started going white, when my sister's kids started getting married, did I notice that I did not age.I spent years running through possible debts, trying to repay them, trying to age even a single year, with no luck.On one of my darker days, standing on the bridge,I saw my turning point : A man of no more than 30 was standing on the ledge, preparing for a jump.As much as I hated my immortality, something in me pushed me to go and pull that man off the ledge. He screamed,he kicked,he cried rivers of tears out of his blue eyes, but I did not let go.It was that exact moment where I felt a change in me : a previously missing vulnerability had returned.Scratches had formed themselves where the man scratched and clawed at me.I had become mortal again, and the man I recently saved had indebted me by saving my life before. "You saved my life ! You indebted me!I cannot die...",the man realized, horrified.I did not know what to tell him then, and I still do not know what to tell him now,10 years after that incident in which we found love and comfort in each other.Only when he noticed his creases did he open the topic again. The solution was as subtle as the curse was : "You don't owe me anything, you've given me everything."
People are not able to die unless they are debt free. If a person owes anything, they are functionally immortal.

Itâs okay if youâre still questioning who you are. Your life is yours to question.
Just because you did something wrong in the past doesnât mean you canât advocate against it now. It doesnât make you a hypocrite. You just grew. Donât let people use your past to invalidate your current mindset.
