i was writing a different post but this needs to be its own thing, pradeep will go above and beyond his own job to help the rest of the crew and will also do this without being asked, 40% to be helpful (mostly with general work that the whole crew pitches in with) and 60% because it's being done wrong/nobody else is doing it and someone has to (specific to the microbiology lab + his immediate coworkers). if it's the first one, he's mostly happy to help; if it's the second, he does it with a smile but is internally seething. he will never say anything about it, ever.
UNLESS it's ravi. he'll tell ravi to his face that he won't help him, will be openly annoyed when he gives in and helps anyway, and generally doesn't hesitate to call him out for pushing boundaries or trying to offload his own work onto pradeep. this is one of the only examples of them being at all good for each other early on (ironically their breakup is another example of this, since it made pradeep realise he doesn't have the patience to take this from anyone and started putting his foot down a lot more with the microbiology team)

finished the magnus archives the other week and the ravi / mission albatross vibes were truly astounding. unfortunately i think if the archives crew met the mission albatross crew anytime post-s2 they would kill each other on sight
i know 99.9% of you don't go here but i'm gonna go insane if i don't say this somewhere. loo loo land is not as simple as stolas ignoring octavia's wishes to do what he wants without caring how it affects her. it starts as a very bad and very panicked attempt to get her out of a situation that he knows is his fault. "you know what i haven't done in a long, long time? ... why don't we go to loo loo land?" comes directly after octavia asking if he and stella are done arguing, which he's been trying to gloss over ever since octavia came into the room.
was it the best thing to do? absolutely not. he's trying to bring both of them back to a time and a place when everything was fine*, ignoring the fact that what worked for a 5 year old doesn't hold up with a 17 year old, because he doesn't know what else will fix it. it's the same mistake stolas keeps making: trying to protect octavia like she's still a child rather than a young adult who can (within reason) handle a few hard truths.
he handled it wrong, of course he did. but he spent almost two decades maintaining the illusion of a happy family life to protect his daughter, and now it's broken (through stolas' actions! he knows this!) he's still trying to hold the last few pieces of it together for her. to give her some kind of normalcy, protect her from being hurt even though it's obviously too late for that.
(*very much not fine, but at least the illusion was still holding up.)

There is no source of income for the family at the present time, so we are unable to buy food, clean water, and medicine, especially after we are afflicted with the ongoing infectious diseases spread in the north like Hepatitis C disease.
Our house has been damaged a lot since the beginning of the war. We are from the north of Gaza and we are still in the north and have not displaced to the south. We displaced 10 times from place to another seeking to safety .

this particular shopping mall isn't somewhere stolas has been before and he lets @orphicflames take the lead as he mostly zones out. it's terribly rude and he's sure he can't be good company, but somehow, verosika doesn't seem to mind. it's a relief to let her make the decisions, listening to her speak without being expected to say anything in return.
at least, until she shoves a pile of clothes into his arms and steers him into the changing room. he hadn't even been looking at what she'd picked out.
❛ i'm not so sure this was a good idea. ❜ he turns one way, then the other, trying to get a proper look at himself. the mirror isn't designed for someone of his height, making him bend almost double to see himself fully.
goodness, is he going to have to step out of the cubicle like this? a ridiculous question: of course he is. stolas isn't even sure why he's so nervous, or why he feels so ridiculously out of his depth. maybe it's the style she's chosen, so different from what he usually— what he used to wear.
or maybe it's simply that he hasn't felt at home in his own body since being dragged out of the courtroom.

❛ is there anything in here that isn't fucking dehydrated? ❜ he's not exactly speaking to anyone, just complaining out loud, but having an unintentional audience of one does add a little extra satisfaction. and—fucking seriously? it's not like they're still in the early years of space exploration; they've had the tech not to do this since before even the first martian and lunar colonies.
and at least sixty percent of anything in the kitchen on any given day is dehydrated or freeze-dried for no goddamn good reason except to save money. not even the good stuff, either. he's never quite gotten used to the texture.
on account of the fact that most of their equipment—the entire glaciology lab included—is paid for by opting for the basics on food and accommodation makes ravi slightly less bitchy about this than he could be.
but only slightly.
on the other hand, he's fairly sure the guy behind him usually works on the other side of the ship. and he knows there's another kitchenette that side. ❛ i don't suppose your lot have anything better? ❜
