This post is a trust/nod to Fred Thomas (Saturday Looks Good To Me) and his recent review of Guitar "We're Headed To The Lake" on AllMusic.

As much as I respect Thomas' music, I also regularly read and listen to the bands he reviews on AllMusic. He drops all the following band comps when discussing the newest release from Guitar (Portland, Oregon): Swirlies, Built To Spill, Guided By Voices, Pavement, Weezer, Polvo, and Sonic Youth. I especially identify with the Polvo comparison.

Back in May 2025, we covered (for the first time) the work of Bill Fox. The Mice, Fox's early band, were mentioned, but not given their own post. "For Almost Ever Scooter" was Scat Records CD that resissued both Mice releases.

Now Scat is reissuing "For Almost Ever" the 12" EP originally released in 1985 on Herb Jackson Records. After the May 2025 post I bought The Mice CD and some Bill Fox solo and I'll admit I listen to The Mice a lot more. The reissue EP is the first 6 songs on this CD release.

The Mice were based in Cleveland have a sound that combines The Who, The Jam and local legends Rocket From The Tombs with fellow Ohioans Guided By Voices. I can also hear the rock and jangle of Chico band The Vertels.
