those posts complaining about greasy hair arent exaggerating btw, it really makes you feel like everything in your life is going wrong and falling apart. and then you shower and it turns into a normal tuesday
its terrible for any number of reasons, but i think if we invent immortality there should be an extreme sport called civilizational speedrunning where teams of 20 go into the wilderness somewhere and try and be the fastest build the first internal combustion engine. i bet you could get it down to like 3 years tops
The real trick is to eat seed heavy food before the speedrun starts so your first poops are halfway to agriculture already
i want you on my team holy shit

who cares if you don't fully "get" the weird postmodernist novel on your first read, or if the experimental arthouse film is opaque to you on your first viewing? you are not being graded. you are not being scored. there is value in the attempt. every time i've read House of Leaves or watched Blue Velvet, I've gotten something new from it. the idea that you might not "get" something and therefore shouldn't bother with it is so silly to me
👏👏👏
Art is subjective. I love rereading novels and rewatching films and finding different interpretations.
Think of how many people, when asked to talk about their favourite piece of media, will say "Every time I revisit it I get something new out of it."
You can rebalance that equation to "Previous times that I read this, I didn't get everything out of it that could be got" and then follow the idea back to the source, which must be: "The first time I read this, I didn't get even half of it."
QED: Your favourite books are likely to be the ones where, on first reading, you felt like you had no idea what was going on.
Situations when it's appropriate to say "I'm always saying this":
1. When you are always saying this (factually correct)
2. When this is actually the opposite of what you're always saying (it's satire)
3. When you have never said this before in your life (how would they know!!)
4. When no one else in the world has ever said this and everyone knows that (very funny)
5. When no actual coherent words are being said (maybe I'm always saying this, like, emotionally)

adding songs from musicals to character playlists is so stupid like yeah this works just ignore some of that really specific stuff

day 1 / do not harm
you were almost turned into a vampire, but before you could be fully turned, the vampire was staked. This left you with a vampire weakness, while still being human.
Spin the wheel to find out your weakness!
How much does this effect you?
Nothing changes
It's inconvenient but I can deal with jty
It will be hard to adjust but I'll figure it out
I don't know if I'll be able to live like this
Maybe I can find another vampire to finish the turning?
I might just kill myself
Results/other
thanks @theemmjay for submitting this poll idea!! Seriously it's such a cool concept I love it so much
i think you guys need to go back to consuming art for the art’s sake rather than for the sake of the review you’re going to post on the internet later
Holds her hands Steph you are so pretty

Gift + bitn harvey dent.
there was a knock from outside his dorm room sometime around dinner. harvey had been packing his things for a long night in the library, but paused in doing so and said, loudly, “yeah?”
“it’s me.” bruce’s voice was muffled by the door.
harvey pursed his lips. they had fought the last time they’d spoken; he didn’t remember what exactly it had been about, which was strange. usually every word of their fights stuck to him like a bruise he couldn’t stop pushing on. but he’d been overtired lately, most of his thoughts darkly circling the lsat like a whirlpool at their center.
“harvey?” bruce asked.
harvey realized he had gone very still, hand frozen around the strap of his messenger bag, breath stuck in his throat. he exhaled. “door’s unlocked.”
bruce entered, in an unusual-for-him burst of color. he was carrying two different floral arrangements, one under each arm, and they stood out against his black peacoat as brightly as a neon sign. harvey raised his eyebrows, silently.
“i wanted to apologize,” bruce said, offering a lopsided smile. his face was pink; impossible to tell if it was from embarrassment or from the chill outside. “i feel bad about how we left things the other night–i know you’ve been working hard–”
“nobody’s ever bought me flowers before,” harvey said.
“well,” bruce said, effectively stopped in his tracks. “i guess i ought to do it more often.”
he offered one of the bouquets, hand outstretched, and harvey took it. he didn’t have to be a genius to know they weren’t grocery store flowers. each arrangement looked like it had been done by hand, at some florist bruce had gone off campus and paid god-knew-how-much to–
“okay,” harvey said, making up his mind. “i forgive you. let’s not be mad at each other.”
bruce smiled wider, more sincere. “okay. let’s not.”
“two bouquets might be overkill, though.”
“i got talked into it,” bruce said. he was lying. harvey knew his tells. probably he was embarrassed about having gone too far, about spending in excess. “i couldn’t decide what kind of flowers you’d like…the florist gave me a deal on them, anyway.”
harvey snorted. “well. just flip a coin, next time.”
