Intelligent alien species based on bugs but specifically those moths that don’t have mouths and only live for a week after they pupate. This species’ whole conscious life is actually in the larval phase; larvae are the ones considered people, larvae are the ones with conscious and complex brains who build society, and each instar of the larva is treated as a different phase of life. Larvae become emotionally and socially and cognitively mature without ever becoming sexually mature. When they pupate, they metamorphose into something different and strange and close to mindless, with no mouth and no digestive system, whose only instincts are to mate and then quickly die. Metamorphosis is treated, functionally, like a person’s death, and the imago phase is a kind of proto-afterlife of majestic flight and the continuation of the species. Birth and death inextricably intertwined. Sex is not something people do during their lives, it’s a thing that is done as an imago after you’ve passed on from your life but before you return to the soil in death. Resultant eggs are collected by family members to raise. I think this would be fun.

i think the key difference between george lucas’s star wars and disney’s star wars is that lucas is a man with an ideology. someone with a point of view, and all that entails. which comes with ideas of revolution, anti-imperialism, challenging the status quo, cultural appropriation and racist stereotypes. complex and contradictory ideas because that’s how artists are: complex and complicated people. disney is not. disney is a corporation. a corporation can’t have ideology, because ideology defeats the purpose of profit. and when the only thing you do is to turn on the movie manufacturing machine before you sit down and plan what ideas are you trying to convey to the audience, then your results are going to be washed out corporate garbage. and because when you’re a giant corporation who only cares about selling to the widest audience possible, you can’t take sides. you can’t decide on an idea. because you want to sell your product to people who are on the entire political spectrum. which results in movies without ideology, without purpose, without soul.

SOOOO hard to talk about body issues with teens because it’s like “how your body looks doesn’t matter well I mean it may matter to society/others but it SHOULDN’T matter to them so it shouldn’t matter to you but I realize that right now it does matter to you because it affects how others/society treats you and it’s hard to just convince yourself that doesn’t matter”

“Europoors can’t afford AC. They couldn’t survive a week of Texas’s heat wave” Okay, yeah, that’s cool and funny. Can we please talk about the fact that global warming is so bad that the heat is literally killing people that far north.

Great addition and I would also like to add that while we talk a lot about the infrastructures of European cities not built for the heats, it's also important to note that their bodies are also not built for this heat. The human body is made to adapt to the climate you live in. Meaning if you live in an area where it's usually warmer, your pores open up more and it's easier to sweat/regulate heat. If you've never needed to do that before, it's harder for your body to do which makes it feel even hotter.
