This Class 08 diesel shunter still exists. It's preserved and based on the Mid Hants Railway and has been since 2009.

It was withdrawn from BR as long ago as 1974. Poor luck. There are plenty of 08s still working on the main network to this day, but D3044 was out of favour when Glam Rock was the trend.

Unsure if that's green paint or its original black livery. But in or around 1960 it was photographed hauling coal wagons in Kent somewhere.
