Thereās something I need to get off my chest and I donāt know where else to do it, soā¦ And this isnāt a direct attack at anyone in specific. But why is that whenever anything news related to SHINeeās Minho occurs, only 10% of shawols react? Call me a dramatic flamer all you want, but the lackluster reaction to him getting injured is concerning to me. And it doesnāt even have to be bad news. It could be him winning an award like a few days ago and then majority going āokay but what does that award mean?ā. Does it really matter? Canāt you just say congratulations like everyone else? Itās not that hard. You did it for the other four in the past. So it should be done for Minho too. Thereās no reason to segregate the literal glue of this group. Without him, there is no SHINee. Itās as simple as that.
Which brings me to my second point of this rant. Where were some of you guys when he got injured during his inrang filming? The man almost got a concussion from him being tossed around like a ragdoll, all because he refused to let a professional stand-in do the stunts.
Did you guys acknowledge or watch the movie yet? He worked really fucking hard. So you could at least watch it. Need access outside of paying for Netflix? Hit me up, and Iāll help you find a method that works for you.
And alternatively, where were some of you guys when he mentioned that a lot of people were not even aware of his injury on dream team (in 2010) to the point that some of y'all were asking why he was on a chair during their performances. And in his own words: āwithout really knowing the situationā.
Q: āFor a few weeks after your comeback you sat on a chair and sang, right?ā
A: People asked why I had a separate stage to myself. That the concept seemed pretty good. And some would talk without really knowing the situation. [ laughs ].
That, right there, is not okay. Itās not. His injury was serious enough that he was suppose to be resting at home. But, did he? No. He kept performing because he loves us that much. And I honestly believe itās also because he didnāt want to burden his members by forcing them to perform as 4. Heās always so considerate of others. So I donāt understand how he can be overlooked the way that he is. It doesnāt make any sense to me. Like, at all.
I could sit here and talk about his basketball injury too, where he messed up his ankle. And rather than relaxing his damn foot, he was out on stage, hopping around and passing his pain off like nothing during their MTTM promotions. But, Iām sure you get my point.Ā
[ edit ]:Ā ** Iād like to add in WHY I brought up his injuries since people are flooding my inbox now: Iām not saying youāre a bad shawol for not knowing he got hurt now or in the past. But Iāve been seeing people who call themselves shawols making his injury into a joke. Even if itās not life threatening, thatās not right. In no way is it ever okay to take someone getting hurt into a joke - for any human being. And Iām not going to sit here in silence and just let it slide either. Iāve reached my limit with these jokes. All those unneededĀ jokes about him and wigs during the AAA awards a few days ago plus this just piled up and Iāve had enough. Iām not apologizing for standing up for him.
The sad part, however, is that this neglect is not only with his injuries but with his personal accomplishments too. How many of you are even aware that Minho holds the title of writing the most lyrics in SHINeeās korean discography up to date? Heās participated in over 40 songs since debut: meaning, from their first album till their latest one. And barely anyone acknowledges him for that feat. Instead, I see ten thousand different variants of the joke āHAHA, HIS SOLO ALBUM SHOULD BE CALLED RACE. BECAUSE HE RUNS FAST, GET IT?Āæā. Come on guys, really? Or even the infamous ādibidibidisā joke that keeps being recycled. Itās gotten old. And he didnāt even write that rap. He found it cringey too, but still went along with it. Because thatās what he does. He never gives up or says the word ānoā. And donāt even get me started on the whole dynamite performances fetishization. I will end up writing a 20 paged essay if I let myself delve too deep into this topic. All I will say is that he is more than his body. And that he went through a lot of pain and hardship, like spending 10 months on a bland diet that didnāt even smell all that good - and led to him eating alone because the others complained about it -, all because he wanted to try and give us all a perfect performance. So again, I repeat: HE IS MORE THAN HIS BODY OR āCHOCOLATEā ABS. Heās a wonderfully talented singer who brings a lot of color and richness to SHINeeās unique sound, and his honey-like vocals are out of this world.Ā
Q: āYouāve also taken on the responsibility of creating raps, right?ā
A: Truthfully, minus a couple of songs you could count using just one hand, Iāve written almost all of the raps on our album. Although there are times when I think that it would be nice if people acknowledged that, at the same time they may also be very trivial parts that could easily be skipped over. I donāt think that I should go around saying that I did this, I did that, wondering why people wonāt give me recognition. I gain strength when I see the writings of fans wondering, āMinho oppa did this but why wonāt people acknowledge it?ā
Are we collectively, as shawols, not the fans he speaks of? Who are suppose to be hyping him up and reminding people that heās talented too? He said it himself that he gains strength from us speaking out. So, why are some of you mute? Him saying ātrivial parts that can be skipped overā honestly breaks my heart every time I read this interview over. SHINee is an experimental group, thatās the basis of being a contemporary band, they try new things. I personally love ALL their music. But I know for some people, they may prefer some songs over the others. Thatās completely normal because itās about what speaks to you most at the end of the day. But even so, you can still be respectful to the songs you may not like as much. His lyrics when actually looked at and read over, like you would a poem or story, theyāre very deep. And meaningful. Minho has a lot of soul. Hell, he even made our ever-so sentimental sweetheart, Jonghyun, bawl his eyes out when listening to the lyrics he wrote for the song āDonāt Let Me Goā. It takes a lot to move him. So if Jjong can appreciate Minhoās talent, so can all of you.
Heās there for all of his members milestones and happiest moments to remind them that they are awesome, talented, and worth paying attention to. So we need to be there for him during his own milestones too. And we need to stop feeding into this toxic culture that heās purely a visual who happens to be āathleticā. Because heās not. Heās so much more than thatā¦..
No one can ignore how hard this man works, and how how hard he exerts himself to show all of his members, and us shawols, love and devotion. But we canāt even give him 1/10th of that love back? Thatās really depressing and it really upsets me.
And truthfully, I admire his strength to continue - because this is why I value him so dearly as a role model in life - but if it were me, I would have gave up a long time ago.
So please stop looking down on Minho and respect him for the talented, wholesome, caring man that he is.
