I gotta be honest. I don't get how people think Buddie is still happening.
Even if I still shipped it after BuckTommy happened, I think the latter half of season 8 and their lack of interaction in season 9, and the downright rude attitude Eddie has had towards Buck since the whole moving to Texas nonsense started. Like they stated, Eddie's straight even. What more is needed?
8x09: Eddie's inability to effectively communicate with Buck, and acts like Buck is supposed to read his mind. Did Buck make a mistake? yes. Did he deserve how Eddie treated him? Absolutely not.
8x10. Buck is talking about how everything's gone wrong in his life since he and Tommy broke up. Eddie looks like he couldn't give a single F about it or him.
8x11: Buck states several times, without any hesitation or future inclination otherwise, that he is NOT in love with Eddie. As far as canon has stated, Buck is not pining after his straight best friend.
8x17: Eddie and Buck have an argument where Eddie yells at him. "The trials and turbulations of Evan Buckley" is not cute, nor romantic. Gabbing at Buck was also not ok, regardless of whether he was really going to hit him or not. Everyone is grieving Eddie; you don't get to police how everyone else does it.
And the funny thing is, both moments in season 8 where Eddie goes off on Buck were Eddie's own fault for not being able to have an adult conversation. "Hey Buck, I think I need to move to Texas to be with my kid. What do you think?" Or "Hey Buck, I think its time I head back to Texas cause I got a job offer. But also, man, I'm worried about you. How are you doing?" EASY FREAKING PEASY.
Season 9: Buck and Eddie exchanged one piece of dialogue between the two of them. Any other time they're on screen, there's someone between them, and the rest of their exchanges are group ones.
Then you have the 9x05 moment, where Eddie shuts down Buck once again. In a rather unnecessary way. A simple. "sorry Buck, I don't believe in that stuff, but you have fun." And IDK why that hostility y is there or where its going? But it is 100% not gonna be romantic.
I'm not gonna get into the nitty-gritty details of everything Eddie said because that's not the point. The point the show is trying to hammer in:
Buck is not in love with Eddie
They were friends... but I am not even sure if they're friends anymore based off what we've seen so far in season 9.
I am not sure how much clearer the show can be that Buddie is not going canon. Nothing prevents people from shipping it, of course, to each their own boat. But the point is, the show is really hammering in that it won't be canon. And even if I were still shipping it, I would be seeing the writing on the wall.
