We're off to a great start this week, Christopher has been playing a new ipad app called 'Spacestation' which is a granular synthesizer that can change your voice. Also, Christopher wanted to lay down some Kalimba for a new song called "Ready For Summer'.
Christopher has had a great week at the studio, putting the finishing touches to his latest song which we burned to CD. He says that he would like to ply it to his buddy's at Kingfisher Centre.
There's a real buzz in the studio today! it may be grey outside those doors, but Christopher and I have been planning his "Road To Christmas" album launch. Plus we have been working hard on the April Showers track which is almost ready, so in Chris' words...'Watch Out and Look Out". 🎶🪘🎹🌅
The Sun is shining, and Christopher and I are making some wonderful music this morning!

A great week with Chris and Benny making a song called 'April Showers'.
We did it! Christopher's first full E.P is out very soon! Here is the tracklist:
1. My Relaxing Music 2. Going Bowling 3. In The Forest 4. Eastertime And here's a sneak preview folks!
In the song about going bowling, Christopher wanted to play the guitar, so we set it up across the piano to play and tuned it to Drop D, which worked really well! We also wanted to recreate the chaotic nature of the atmosphere at the bowling alley using random notes and chords. Christopher also played the synthesiser and drums.
Christopher really wanted to make an uplifting song today, so we pulled up a track that we stared a while ago which initially starts off with a slightly subdued and somber mood, but then we completely turned it around and turned it into a kind celebration of Spring and Easter in a carnival style...super fun! We should be mixing and mastering in the control room tomorrow as we currently have 4 tracks to put on an EP.
Joe joined us today as he is doing work experience with Beat This. It just so happens Joe is an excellent drummer so he played with Christopher on a new song today, another bluesy number, great!
So yesterday Chris and Benny tuned the guitar down to 'drop D' and started worked on a piece using some atmospheric noises from a bowling alley! Because Chris loves to go bowling, we thought we'd recreate that ambience, great fun!
We had a noisy output today to the speakers, so Chris learned about how to eliminate the hum using a transformer box - getting technical!

Last week we recorded piano using an old Fender guitar amp with the reverb which sounded really fantastic. We also had a gat a piano piece with the sheet music and some guidance.
Christopher wants to start working a new track for the E.P using guitar as a starting point. We're currently working on an A minor > F major intro.
This week we have started to work on a new collection of pieces entitled: "I feel relaxed". We are incorporating the sounds of nature together with some solo piano, synth and various world percussion to generate some ambient, evolving music that makes us feel relaxed and calm.
Christopher has finished his first song for 2026. This is a piece in D Major. Christopher mainly played piano, chords and scales, some synthesizer and some percussion on this amazing track!
2025 - What a Year / 2026 - Looking Up and Beyond
When I met Christopher I was so incredibly impressed with his knowledge of music, the piano as an instrument, and his playing.
Throughout 2025, Christopher has made really strong and consistent progress through his 1-2-1 music sessions at Beat This. The year has been about building confidence, exploring creativity, different instruments and developing his own musical identity.
Over the year Christopher has:
Created a growing body of original music, including multiple completed tracks and ideas that are now forming the basis of an album,
Shown increased focus and engagement during sessions, often staying with activities for longer periods,
Grown in confidence using a wide range of instruments and music technology, including synths, keyboards, percussion, iPad apps, and accessible controllers,
Begun to make more creative choices — selecting sounds, rhythms, and musical directions that reflect his own taste,
Explored different musical styles and textures, showing curiosity and willingness to try new things,
Successfully taken part in recording sessions, layering sounds and contributing meaningfully to finished pieces,
Developed a sense of pride and ownership in his music, enjoying listening back to and sharing his work.
Overall, 2025 has been a really positive year for Christopher. He has moved from experimenting with sounds to actively shaping and completing music, laying strong foundations for finishing his album and sharing his work more publicly in 2026.

Well Christopher's new song is almost ready folks!
Today Christopher has been experimenting with the ipad app called the Novation Launch Key which is a great app for generating sequenced melodic lines and an old Korg drum machine that we blew the dust off and cranked up. A good start to the week we think. 🎼🎹🥁⚡️
