CHREON WEEK 2024 - Day 3: Rescue/Whump (+ Day 6: "I thought I was going to lose you." "You almost did.")
SYNOPSIS: Incapacitated after a mission gone wrong, Leon laid in a hospital bed- Chris, all the while, by his side.
➷ angsty but heartfelt, hurt w/ a special side of comfort, & a special guest star. era not specified, but i did envision it around post-ven, pre-re7 :] ➷ 1.4k words!
A/N: sorry that this is late! i know chreon week is over, but i still had ideas. this was actually meant to be shorter, and then longer, and then shorter again, so i hope the pacing isn't too jarring for anyone! thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoy <3

The doctors said he’d been too close to the blast radius. Seared right through the skin of his abdomen. Metal scraps and shards of glass littered his body, having filleted the flesh, embedded in various levels of skin and fat and muscle. Not to mention how a few particularly impacted sections of bones had simply burst, unable to bear the weight of all the pressure, sending calcium shrapnel tearing through his insides.
Code blue. Critical condition.

Chreon Week: Chreon As Parents (Day 4)
The first time Leon sees Chris holding Rose, he’s hit by how just how soft the other man looks. All of his rough edges are smoothed away with the expression on his face (Leon could call it fondness, but that would almost seem to be a disservice to label it just to that. There’s grief, there’s determination, there’s promise in that expression. It’s a myriad of emotions, and Leon feels almost honoured to be able to see it on the other’s face.) and he smiles down at Rose, who sleeps peacefully in Chris’s arms.
He guesses the expression on his face reflects some of the surprise he feels, because when Chris looks up, the other male quirks a brow at him. Leon schools his expression into something more neutral, giving the other a shrug.
“I guess I wasn’t expecting you to be so good with kids,” Leon admits, watching as Chris laughs, quietly. Rose bobs a little with the motion, but she doesn’t stir, just curls towards Chris a bit more. Chris watches Leon track the infant’s movements with nothing more than a look of content.
“Someone raised Claire, you know,” Chris replies, moving Rose back to her crib now that she’s adequately soothed. He doesn’t seem offended, throwing Leon a fond smile (the same smile he gives Rose and Claire, but also different, in a way Leon doesn’t want to try to read into, lest he find something there that he isn’t prepared to face) and moving back towards the living room.
“I’m not so sure about that,” Leon responds, teasing. Chris snickers, shaking his head, resettling on the couch. Leon settles next to him, and, after a moment of thought, he leans against Chris.
And after another moment, Chris puts his arm around Leon’s shoulder, bringing him closer.
---
The first time Chris sees Leon hold Rose, he has to try his damnedest not to laugh. The other male is just so… awkward. It’s funny.
It’s sweet.
Chris manages not to laugh, but the smile that’s on his face probably reflects how he feels regardless. If anyone asks Leon, the expression that he flashes Chris isn’t a pout.
“C’mon, relax, she’s a baby, not a grenade,” Chris urges, wanting to place a hand on the other’s shoulder. He leans back against the counter instead, watching Leon try his best to relax. Rose coos in his arms, drawing Leon’s attention away from Chris and oh.
He watches Leon go from awkward, tense and sees his expression melt into something impossibly gentle. There’s a small smile on his face and his blue eyes soften. He murmurs something softly at Rose, chuckling a bit as she tries to reach out for his face with a chubby hand.
Chris feels, for a second, that this is something he isn’t meant to see. Leon’s expression makes him look so much younger, so much sweeter. Not that he isn’t sweet in that odd, disgruntled way of his, with small touches and random items that appear after visits to his or Claire’s flat.
Leon’s always been discreet with his affection for others, unlike himself and Claire, who grab on and hold. Hugs, pats on the back, grabbing someone’s arm. They’re all small declarations of love, be it platonic or romantic or familial. It’s how both Redfields work.
It had taken a while to figure out where the small trinkets had appeared from, but they’re always left in the same place, a small counter near the door to his apartment. Chris hadn’t even been the one to figure out it was Leon, it was Claire. They both hadn’t told Leon they knew, for fear of him misunderstanding and stopping.
Leon makes a sound, somewhere between a pained noise and laugh, causing Chris to break out of his thoughts and look up. Rose has grabbed a handful of blonde hair and is pulling, hard. Leon doesn’t seem to actually mind too much, carefully maneuvering the baby so he can hold her with one hand, the other gently prying his hair out of her fingers.
Rose babbles in response, making grabby hands, so Leon letting her grab onto his pinkie finger instead. She seems content, trying to bring his finger to her mouth.
“Now who’s surprisingly good with kids?” Chris teases, Leon looking up at him, almost sheepishly. Rose catches his attention again soon enough, babbling some more, having succeeded in pulling Leon’s finger into his mouth.
Chris walks away for a second, grabbing Rose’s little monkey from her crib. He waves it in front of her, smiling when she let’s go of Leon’s thumb to try and grab the plush. He lets her grab it, watching her babble at the monkey as she holds it close to her chest.
Later, when Rose is sleeping, Leon and Chris go back to the living room. They curl up much of the same way as before, watching whatever shows up on the TV. Leon falls asleep, and Chris holds him with the same gentle hands he treats Rose with.

Chreon Week 2024: Day 5
“We’re too old for this.” (on ao3)
-
“Leon Scott, if you break your arm again, I am not taking you to the hospital.”
Leon smiles—even as his arms shake from holding himself upright. He doesn’t need Chris’ empty threats.
And it is an incredibly empty threat, absolutely no truth behind it whatsoever; Chris would be grabbing his car keys the moment anything bad happened.
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Hiya! This is honestly... One of my favorite things I've written for this fandom as it's message is important to me. It involves a lot of sad stuff so please read the tags and be careful... Though the ending is beautiful. Enjoy this little baby work of mine 💙 (My 'Immortal' Leon AU side story and the original story is up as well and almost completed if you're interested!)
As always, the list belongs to @highball66 and the appreciated collaboration of the Chreon fandom!
Summary:
It's so hard to believe that he almost lost something so precious to the world's own selfish ideals of hurtful ways. There's happiness… even if it feels like another world away.
“I love you. “
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Hi again! Today's intry for Day Six is a gender swap AU that has a lot of lore but this is it's Vendetta course! Female Leon (Leona) & Female Chris (Christina) and other alter names! Do be warned of the tags :D
As always, the list belongs to @highball66 and the appreciated collaboration of the Chreon fandom!
Summary:
Christina couldn't even hear herself scream for the other as Leona grows four limbs with sharp edges that are embedded into Arias deeply. They went over the edge by the force inflected and down multiple stories… un-survivable to anything. She knew she was screaming something, but it went unheard to the uncaring wind.
Chreon Week: STARS!Leon (Day 5)
There’s a new member in their squad.
Chris has a vague recollection of Jill telling him about a new recruit while he was writing up a report, but he was so distracted that it went in one ear and out the other. He probably should have paid more attention to her, though, because there he is, talking to Wesker about something in the captain’s office.
“That him?” Chris asks Jill, settling into his seat, glancing back at the rookie in the office. He looks young, almost unbearably so. His gaze refocuses on Jill, seeing her nod.
“Yep, that’s him. Fresh out of training, apparently. Showed some sort of promise in the academy. He requested to be put in with us instead of downstairs,” Jill replies, messing with a pen, her gaze also getting drawn to the newbie, then flicking back to look at Chris. “Of course, you’d have known all this if you actually listened to me when I spoke to you…”
Chris huffs at her, knowing that she was just teasing. He opens his mouth to respond when the door swings open, causing everyone in the room to look over.
Chris’s first impression of his new squad member?
He’s pretty.
He’s not the only one to think that, he learns later, but still. High cheekbones and blue eyes that remind Chris of the sky on a warm day. He’s a little awkward when Wesker introduces him to the group, but it’s more endearing than anything.
Leon, that’s his name, is well meaning, even if he sometimes makes dumb mistakes that would have Chris rolling his eyes if it were anyone else. He’s also funny, coming up with dumb quips that has Chris struggling not to crack a smile in tense situations. There are other things too, like the way the corner of his eyes crinkle when he smiles, the glint in his eyes when he’s presented with a challenge that makes him have to use his brain, the sly smile he wears when he flirts jokingly.
That smile gets directed at Chris a lot, when they become closer friends and Leon eases out of his shell. Jill shoots him a knowing look when Chris fails to joke back, red coloring his face. Leon looks strangely giddy each time that happens.
It takes Chris an embarrassingly long time to realize that Leon likes him. And by embarrassingly long, he means around a year of Leon flirting with him. In the end, it’s Jill who has to point out the obvious, and he still ends up not believing her.
Which is probably why he gets shoved into that closet. With Leon.
“Work your shit out, Redfield, or you don’t get to leave,” Jill calls out, causing Leon to raise an eyebrow at him.
So, work his shit out he does. And if the two of them exit that closet with rumpled uniforms and dark bruises on their necks? Well, that’s nobody’s business but their own.
Chreon Week 2024: Day 6
panic attack (on ao3). Tags: nightmares, crying, angst, hurt/comfort or hurt no comfort.
-
Leon snaps awake. There’s a heavy weight over him, constraining him. Like coming out of a nightmare, he pushes against it.
It’s only Chris.
They’re in bed at the hotel, the room just as dim and blue as it was when they went to bed. Chris is here. Leon woke up. That’s all.

Chreon Week: Panic Attacks (Day 6)
Scott belongs to @samblerambles and is apart of her amazing fanfic called can you see me in the dark? (i hope you like my new disguise)
It's a super good Chreon fic and honestly consumes most of my thoughts, heh :D plus, Scott is lovely and sweet. I definitely recommend giving it a read :)
Leon wakes up with panic pooling in his chest. It’s odd, foreign, feels almost alien as it sticks like honey in his mind. It’s urgent, but also not his.
Which means that it belongs to Scott.
That has Leon sitting up, rubbing sleep out of his eyes as he swings his legs over the side of the bed. Chris had opted to stay with Scott for the night after the other male had… freaked out. Even after Leon had told him not to beat himself up, he still did. Just how Chris works, unfortunately, especially when it comes to people he cares about.
Not that Leon can’t say he’s the same way. There’s a worry and anger that simmers in his blood still, hours after learning about Sherry’s disappearance. He doubts the feeling will dissipate until she’s found and safe.
He shrugs the feeling off, though, making his way to Scott’s room, hearing muffled sounds. Chris’s voice is there, low and soothing, but the panic in his chest doesn’t feel assuaged in the slightest. He opens the door quietly, slipping inside to see what’s going on.
Scott is in the corner of the room, breathing harshly, hands grasping at his hair. He’s speaking, but Leon can’t really hear what he’s saying, most of it an unintelligible mess. Chris is in front of him, trying to reassure, but Leon can tell none of it is getting through. Leon bites at his lip, unsure how to proceed.
“Hey, Scott?” Leon calls, keeping his voice low, moving next to Chris. Brown eyes focus on him, and Chris is moving back, seemingly unsure what to do. Leon gives Chris a small smile, trying his best to be reassuring, before focusing on the foreign panic that settled in his chest. He wonders if…
He focuses on his own sense of calm, trying to push it to Scott the same way he pushed his thoughts to the other earlier today. It seems to help a bit, after some initial resistance, but there’s still enough panic to make Leon feel on edge.
“What happened?” Leon asks after a bit, seeing Scott’s breathing calm down to match Leon’s own. The other looks at him with tired eyes, and Leon can feel the self-loathing start to well up. Before Leon can do anything about that, there’s an influx of information being lobbed at him.
He’s waking up and there’s pain in his head, there’s pressure. The lights are bright and it’s her voice, she’s speaking to him. The area around him washes away like water and he’s screaming, screaming, screaming, but there’s no sound, only liquid rushing into his mouth, choking, cloying. He’s reaching for the surface, he knows it’s there, he’s escaped from this before, and his fingers brush air. He gasps, looking around wildly. He’s in the room where they fought 037 and Chris is slumped in the corner. 037 is looking down at his body, a vicious smile on his face.
He screams when the tentacles stab through Chris.
Leon feels his breathing pick up but shakes away the residual fear from what had been Scott’s nightmare. Blue eyes are trained on him, hands having reached forwards to… he doesn’t know, comfort, maybe? They retreat, though, once Scott sees Leon’s eyes trained on his own.
“Sorry,” Scott mumbles, voice sounding scratchy. Leon shakes his head at the other, gaze catching on how the moonlight hits blonde hair. It’s blonder than his own and it makes the strands almost glow.
“Don’t be. We all have nightmares,” Leon responds, giving him a small smile, feeling that same curious feeling of emotions that are not his own. It’s something warm, affectionate, almost. Leon clears his throat, softly, as if trying to clear the feeling as well. “C’mon. You should try and get some more sleep. I have a feeling tomorrow’s going to be a long day.”
Scott nods, finally uncurling from himself, standing up. He turns to look at Chris, who’s looking a little confused, but shoots them a smile. Leon shuffles in place, unsure what to do, but nods at Scott, moving to exit the room.
“Night,” he says, hearing the two respond as he closes the door. He makes his way back to his bed, exhaling sharply. He rubs a hand over his chest, where he can still feel the remnants of warmth from the emotion Scott had shared accidentally.
Shaking his head, he curls up in bed again, willing himself to sleep. He’d deal with whatever this thing is later. There are more important things to worry about right now either way.
