The upshot for me is that we as a society don't bother to care about the character of our politicians, just the designation behind their name. Some of that is because committees that control nominations only give us the illusion of choice, but some is our own indifference. Once upon a time the hint of infidelity was enough to sink a candidate, and now a guy can have a Nazi tattoo for nearly 20 years, say "Oh, I didn't know, sowwwy!", and people shrug and say, "Well, vote blue no matter who, guess we gotta vote for him."

btw the reason why i had such an issue with being a woman during my early teen years was genuinely because puberty changed my body in such a way that i felt like someone entirely different. i developed mental health issues around this time as well because i was having people around me point out my more feminine figure in an inappropriate way, including people who were close to me, friends and family. i hardly wore short skirts because a friend of mine made a sexual comment about me as she walked up the stairs behind me, to another friend—one of the reasons i grew to hate the more accentuated features i gained as a young woman.
so no, i am not in the belief that i was born in the wrong body—i think i was just made to feel ashamed about it. that’s all. i grew up a tomboy just like my momma, cause i was a daddy’s girl, and that’s pretty much the extent of it. the internalized issue i had with being a woman was genuinely, in a way, misogyny and self-hatred.
now that i’m grown i obviously no longer feel that way :]
shout out to the individual who, about 4-5 years ago, told me one day I’d realize i was a trans dude.
