This is a story of corruption,

of deception,

of naïveté,

and of bitterness.

This is the story of the cruelest god.

This was a god of omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence, and thus came to be known simply as Omni.

Omni’s worshippers were scarce, few and far between, though, I’ll admit “worshippers” is too gentle a word.

These were victims.

Victims not of cultish behavior, as they were not aware of one another the majority or entirety of their lifetime. No fellowship or cordiality manifested in this religion, as Omni struck down any quality of sublimity. Any subtle display of impiety would be soon hewn and halted, often by an angel’s scythe, but Omni would meticulously study each case and determine what could be salvaged of such a sinner.

One such “sinner”, commonly called Null, was reformed by Omni into a tool, the hand of god.

Young and naïve, Null passed from mortality bitterly, sorely, and by her own hand, her own angel’s scythe. A dismal life of serving tyrants had taught her to be largely misanthropic, that the world would be better off without a certain kind of person. And by observing Null closely, Omni learned Null’s motives, philosophies, and idiosyncrasies.

And struck.

At death, Omni presented Null with an opportunity:

Null could return to the world and do as she pleased by ridding the world of the wickedest sinners. She would nullify any vileness by consuming them entirely and ultimately destroy them. 

Null seized this opportunity and was granted divinity, bestowing her the title demigod. She returned to earth eager to start her holy labor.

 Omni’s gift of return came with clear instructions:

“Thou must consume scum and plague.

Study polluted human nature.

Understand, Opia?”
