To her, it was so cute and endearing of him to worry too much about the meeting. She couldn’t helped but to keep thinking about it over and over again and how even though she didn’t say it much tonight, Minji complimented on how nice her boyfriend looked in her head, hoping that their claimed telepathy would carried it over to his mind and she wouldn’t need to said it out loud. She chuckled at the memory of his first meeting with her mother. Something that was unexpected before and also before they even started their relationship. “I don’t think you were in sweats before! Besides, it was after that she asked me who was the handsome friend that came along to picked up Dougie that day.”
“I know but don’t you still like it when your fans or someone else says it?”, the girl narrowed her eyes playfully over to Jonghun, going up at it again with one of their inside jokes. It had been a habit for them to joke around about these things and she had gradually seen how their comfort level with each other just kept going up by time. Maybe it came with how long they had been in the relationship for. “You know I’m just worried… I’m worried because I also want to impress your parents! You’ve done a lot of preparation for tonight and I’m definitely not going to do the meeting with your parents half-heartedly. I… Need to be my best self.”, she bursted out laughing although to masked out her nervousness. Even if it would still be a little time away until the meeting happened, the nervousness wouldn’t settled down. Heck, they even hadn’t met hers yet. “Thankfully Minyoung unnie is home so she helped her out on the cooking and preparation. Appa’s home too and he even pitched in to the texts earlier.”, Minji pursed her lips, looking over to Jonghun to see his reaction when her father brought into the topic. “He said he’s waiting to see you and to just get to know you more than only from my stories.”, she flashed him a supporting and comforting smile. She knew her boyfriend was nervous just to meet her family in general and not just her father or her mother. The red head followed him towards the car and waited for the door to be unlocked before she got into the passenger seat like she always did. They had gone through many trips with Jonghun’s car and tonight’s seemed like a trip that lied more on the anxiously excited side. Or maybe, more excitement for her because she had been waiting to introduce him to her family. “Ready?”, she looked over to the driver seat as she buckled up her seatbelt. “It’ll be fine, I promise.”
He sighs a little, wrinkling his forehead as if trying to think back to all those months ago. It’d been a while and to be absolutely honest to himself, no matter how hard he thought about it, and how important that day, that trip was, Jonghun really couldn’t remember his outfit was for the day. After all it was what was happening at the time that was important, right? “Maybe I was wearing sweats! I really can’t remember. But despite what I was wearing, I’m sure your umma would have seen me wearing a lot more casual outfit that I am now. Ah?! Your umma refers to me as the handsome friend?” He can’t help to grin a little, speaking in a teasing tone as he nudges Minji a little, “So it’s ok that I’m not a hot guy like Hansel..?” He quickly bursts out laughing after, just to make it clear that he was joking about the topic like always.
“I do, of course I do!” He nods a little as he turns to the girl, “after all, who doesn’t like to be called handsome or complimented to be good looking, right? But I like it the most when you call me handsome!” Jonghun grins more, shaking his head a little again. “Yah, you know that my parents know about you and you know that they approve of you, so you really don’t need to worry about anything when it comes to meeting them. I honestly think that they might be more nervous to meet you actually. Just be yourself when you do meet her, because you’re always your best self!” He gives her a soft grin. He knows of course, how it feels to be nervous, after all, he’s experiencing the exact feelings at the moment. But he also knows that Minji tends to think towards the negative side of things and by now, he knows that she always needs that tiny bit of assurance. “I feel bad now, for going to your place empty handed. I really should have brought a dish or some kind of present before going. Do you think we’d have time to stop by to pick up a gift to give to your parents before going there? Or would we not have enough time?” He lets out a small sigh, somewhat disappointed in himself with forgetting to get a gift in the first place. It’s one of the most important things when meeting with parents and he ever forgot it. “Is your appa strict? Would he like me? What if he doesn’t like me? What should I talk to him about?” A series of questions started to flow through his head, resulting in another soft sigh again. Maybe Minji was right and he was really just being too nervous about it all. He’d walked Minji to the passenger seat, waited for her to get one before quickly going to his side of the car, getting in and quickly starting the car, quickly keying in the address to Minji’s house into the GPS before pulling out of the car park. “I’m ready. I think I’m ready. We’re ready. And...if I’m really not ready, you’re ready for the both of us, right?”
