Valentines 2022: 6 bouquets of flowers, a gold tennis bracelet, new shoes and enough chocolate to kill me. I'm not in an official relationship with any of these men, but I am getting more love and respect than I did in 2 years with my ex. You can always do better.

Make pleasing yourself a priority rather than always bending over backwards to please other people

Develop thick skin. Not everyone will agree with your lifestyle choices and many of them will be very vocal about that, but you can’t succomb to their naysaying. Learn to handle criticism but never take it too personally.

Understand that you may have to let some people down or hurt a few feelings for your own sanity. That doesn’t mean you should try to do that, but it will have to happen inevitably. For ex: a family member may feel hurt that you are choosing to move out and into your own place so that you can flourish and make experiences as a young woman but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Develop healthy levels of confidence and self esteem. Some women look leveled up but their confidence is in the gutter and they are some of the most insecure and validation seeking people you will ever meet. Some women take it too far and become completely conceited and arrogant to the point of delusion. Love yourself unapologetically, but stay grounded in reality.

Focus on yourself and stop being too invested in what other people are doing. I’ve mentioned this before, but in the book Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport, one quote I’ve always loved is, “you can’t build a billion dollar business like facebook if you spend all day scrolling through facebook”. That advice was tailored toward business but it applies here too. You can’t take yourself to the next level if you are too busy focusing on what level other people are on.
