every time i go to get the bus i text the bus timetable texting service and it tells me, the bus will be here in four minutes or something. this is maybe wrong and in any case has literally exactly zero impact on how i'll conduct myself in the next four minutes or indeed the remainder of my life on earth, and is an action pantographed by a clumsy clinging motion inside my soul, come on, you can't be doing that in a world where everything is taken from you, where everything has already been taken from you. the bus will come soon. the bus is always there for u. trust me

i think being forgiving, tolerant, extending people grace and patience, etc, whatever, is an important virtue i try to cultivate, and sometimes i follow some argument along until i'm stuck applying this perspective to myself, and immediately i'm disgusted by the schlockiness of it. guy who "forgives herself", lol. like from the breathless tumblr exhortations. lol. lol

i once read somebody online make the point that nobody has absolute trust in science by saying, imagine the person you love the most in the world was demonstrated to have no brain at all. you'd lose trust in science then. it's a really bad argument and it's really stuck with me, i wish i could find it to read it again. the universe speaks out to exactly you and says in order for what you value to make sense you have to close your eyes as tight as you can

speaking of "culture-bound syndromes" is to me a signal that names in this area are deeply unrectified. until i find the language i am unable to speak of this subject

i'm threading my face but i'm bad at it so i end up doing it badly and failing to remove some hairs, so i hurt myself for nothing, and then i'm doubly hurt because i think "wow, i hurt myself for nothing, stupid me". we suffer and we suffer of our suffering... the stoics...
