Mountains, the Tuscan sun, seaside towns, wildflowers, fields of corn, long drives through the countryside, narrow streets, opulent churches, shrines of the Virgin Mary, pasta, pizza, and wine. Nights by the sea, strolls in medieval castles, rolling hills, Italian men, frescoes, the sun setting at 9 pm, children playing football in the street, cafes, poppies, white dresses, copper tans, a sparkling ocean, laughter in the dark, kind smiles in little shops, church bells, the Italian tongue, rosy cheeks, French boys, the Swiss Alps, and feeling at home in a foreign country.
