A website layout of tRip. Used some words that was suitable for the theme, like “RiDes” for the name of the different sketches. The user will be greeted with a warning screen incase they’re not comfortable with the visuals. Under the RIDES page there’re animated gif instructions on how to use the sketches. They will be able to practice RiDe 2 and RiDe 4 by navigating through the pages using the sidebar on the left. When they arrive at the practice pages, there’ll be a pop up window reminding them how to play the sketch. The last page, “tRip”, is the combined sketch for all the 4 sketches. The user can use the numbers 1 to 4 on their keyboard to toggle between the sketches and still use the arrow functions assigned to each individual sketches. The song autoplays once they enter the sketches but if they want to stop it they can press the “PLAY” button.
Here is a 50s of my final sketch. The title of the project is tRip, as you can see I use funky colours (stuck to the retro neon) and flickering visuals. While doing this project I was experimenting with alot of sketches, creating new ones and trying to combine them together. Ultimately I took abit of details from each sketch that I have created, for example, the orbs, sound responsive function, random colours, to combine into this final sketch. The main aim was to use simple shapes like circles to form up a complex looking sketch. Towards the end I also did not expect to be using WEBGL which gave me even more functions. I think the combination of these 4 sketches will be able to confuse the eyes of the user playing with the sketch. Its kind of psychedelic, and mayyyyyybe trigger photosensitivity epilepsy but the intention was to make the eyes lose focus with all the colours and moving spheres, and then refreshing them when it gets more mellow or changed to the waves sketch. Totally did not imagine this outcome from the start, but I think some ideas like the repeated shape in 1 screen and neon colour was applied to the final sketch. Try it out for yourself and LET’S GET tRipPy

Changed my circles and particles sketch to 3D as the waves sketch (in the screenshot) uses WEBGL. In this case, I had to change the ellipses to spheres. I think it wasn’t compromising my sketch because I had more features like the details of the sphere (outlines) and other variables to play with. I mapped the thickness of the stroke to my keyboard so the mouse doesn’t get in the way when playing with the animation. The flicker comes on when it detects 2000Hz in the piece.
Combined the 2 sketches together and had them change over a period of time once each sketch hits a certain framecount. At the combined sketch on the 3rd mode, there’s a flicker added which will respond to the defined frequency in the code. In the first mode with the particle sketch, the red orbs appearing are also frequency sensitive.
Created a few rows of circles, really making use of shapes and how they will overlay each other. Initially there was no fill and the circles just swirled into rainbow like the stickies candy when I moved my mouse. The strokes expands when I move my mouse up and down the Y axis. My eyes kinda lost focus from staring at it for too long, probably a good effect to use for my sketch.
New particles sketch, used random colours for the neon retro effect
5th section of final sketch: ANIMATION
The rectangles are animated by moving it on the y axis. Initially I wanted the big rectangles in the same row as the small rectangles to go in opposite direction and slide out of the screen. However as I was exploring I managed to make the animation appear in an unexpected pattern, whereby some small rectangles will flicker and some will move around.

4th section of final sketch: INTERACTIVE
This sketch was adapted from sketch M_1_4_01 from Generative Designs. The movement of the mouse across the screen over both x and y axis affects the waves. When it is most left, it looks like particles but as it moves towards the right, more ripples will start to form. The number of wave layers are controlled by moving the mouse up and down the y axis.
3rd section of final sketch: SHAPES
The lines are animated by moving the length of x. The circle in the middle can be controlled by using the arrow keys on the keyboard. This idea was also practiced in my Frieder Nake sketch.
2nd section of final sketch: COLOURS
This is one of my sketches from the second session. The spikes are reflected on 4 corners and will only shoot out from the center when the mouse is being pressed.
1st section of final sketch: SOUND RESPONSIVE
The yellow circles will only appear if there is a frequency of 1500Hz from the music playing in the background. This is detected by the fft function (fast fourier transform).
Transcode is the adaptation of one form of coded representation to another. I have loaded the camera and added filters to edit the image captured.

Slitscan captures the column of the camera and prints out across the x axis. For my second sketch I have added in the BLUR filter to add an effect to the current look. The video.loadPixels() function loads the pixel data for the display window into the pixels[] array. pixelDensity() sets the pixel scaling for high pixel density displays. In order to turn this off I have set it to 1.
The shapes are repeated across the x and y axis for this recursion sketch. Recursion involves drawing a group of related, self-similar shapes. I used random() to animate the sketch by affecting the position the shapes will be drawn
