Is there any way of turning off the like/comments notification thingy off that they recently added? I don't like how its starting to drag back what i thought was a long dead mentality over likes and self worth. Im trying not to obsess over it but i'd rather turn off the feature if possible just to be safe. At the moment im just trying to pretend the feature doesn't exist but i check my gallery fairly often to grab hex codes from my characters refs and stuff.
.
I just donāt understand the point of notifying you about followers. Everything regarding it is completely private except you knowing when you get a new one. I donāt see the point, and frankly I feel like CS is contradicting itself with creating itās own spam.
CS mods really out here ignoring reports. SpartanAmethyst has nsfw art in their kal stash of the vaporwave kalon. I mean itās š„µ but dude,, donāt link it to CS lmao
.
This isnāt wrong. I have about 13 Help tickets regarding rule breaking actions and without however many months Iāve been away not a single one has been dealt with or have I gotten answer to. But donāt worry, they can still lock your thread within seconds of requesting.
I love coming back to have 10+ Mod messages regarding things about some of my Oekaki posts.Ā
I would make a joke about getting board warnings and this being my end of my CS account, but that doesnāt even seem to be the case. The fuck is this nonsense now?
im never mentioned in these "suggest a good artist!!" things and it kinda hurt bc I think my art is decent and try to put a lot of work into it
There's a lot to name and many times people are skipped in naming. Doeant mean you're not worthy, there's just a lot of underrated artists. Dontbe discouraged and keep on going.

idk why i stay on cs everything fucking annoys me

Did I write this?
Is it impolite to draw someone's character as a surprise for them? Bc I just did that for a user and when i sent it to them, all i got back was "Please do not draw my characters unless I ask."
Sounds to me like they just have a stick up their ass. If itās gift art of their character thereās no real reason to turn it away. // MP
I think this was just a thoughtful mistake. It was really kind and nice of you to take the time and make/draw something for someone else as a gift. There's nothing really wrong with that, and I'm sorry they didn't even at least thank you for it.
However at the same time I can understand the other person's side because I was in similar situations.
One situation was that someone drew a character of mine as a gift, but how they presented them rubbed me the wrong way. The character in question had a very hothead-like personality; Impatient, not mindful or considerate, you get the idea. Well, they were drawn to be very "cutesy" with a big smile and hearts, and as much as I appreciated the gift, I just really didn't want it because it just wasn't really my character except design-wise really. I still thanked them, I still kept it, but I wished they hadn't done that. (However I have since given away the character with all art, so it doesn't matter now.)
Another situation was again how my character was presented. To keep it short a friend drew my and their character in a... Not explicit manner, but seductive still. Very bothersome and I had no plans to have that character be involved with others. I thought NSFW was off limits without permission regardless, but apparently it wasn't.
And the third time was just that someone drew a feral character of mine in anthro form. I get it that it's not a big deal, but sometimes you just want certain characters to be kept strictly feral. The reason this was a big issue is that once I had that, people assumed it was okay for Anthro when it wasnt, and had a few art trades not go so well because of it.
Because of most of those incidents I ended up adding captions to all characters and character art asking people not to draw them NSFW/Anthro/and whatever else I didn't want for them.
I think others should do the same because gift art isn't something you can prevent any other way it seems.
I don't think you were in the wrong, because you didn't know. Its not necessarily impolite, but I guess now it's strikes the question of do you have to ask?
red beanie copying shit
yo its that anon back w the shit on red beanie copying, like i promised

this instagram artist is important bc a lot of beanies stuff is rlly similar but i digress, heres some more specific examples
ā-
oka-bugs r heavily referenced from these art pieces done by the artist above:

and if we ignore okabugs there was also this:

ā-
these r just a few examples butĀ beanie is always subtly ripping off other artists designs and characters/species with just enough changes for it not to be an actual rip-off. use your own judgement i guess, but this isnt anything new.
I guess for me on this situation, I see the obvious recreation of a lot of features along with the changes made "cleverly" to make it not the same.
Generally speaking, most younger artists will be impressionable when it comes to others artist's styles. They'll want to draw the same way, have the same look, and be as good as that artist is. Its actually how a lot of them start to find their own style, but some of them go about it wrong.
It's one thing to trace. Its one thing to heavily reference. It's one thing to be inspired by. Its one thing to rip off. And it's one thing to create.
Tracing is obvious. Its okay to do, you should ask for permission first, but while fine, you have to be respectful. If you're posting it, you need permission and need to give credit. You can't claim it and should never do anything else with it because it isn't yours.
Heavily referencing is a tricky one which differs based on the medium. Most times if you're heavily referencing a photograph, it's not too bad because you're not simply copying and most people actually do photography for People to use for referencing of different subjects. With drawings however, it borders and is based on what you're referencing exactly. To me, pose referencing from drawings isn't bad because most of the time people don't directly copy the exact pose, but instead they're referencing posture or position. If you have a hard time drawing a dog's paw from a certain angle, you might reference a drawing to see how someone else does it to help you capture it better. A bad example of heavily referencing is simply copying a pose and style perhaps, and then recreating it into something you're trying to draw. "Pose stealing" isn't real, you can't draw a dog sitting and claim the pose, however, if you blatantly copy a pose down to the same paw position directly from a drawing, then that's wrong, and what makes it wrong is re-creation. You're recreating artwork that isn't yours and taking the credit. If you were to ask permission to recreate a piece by someone else and allowed to, then it's re-creation with your own twist and given proper credit. If you do it without permission it's still re-creation, but it's a changed copy of someone's else's work, which is still stealing.
Inspiration is not the same as referencing. Inspiration is more of a drive to do something a certain way or use certain subjects, or to jump on to a movement. Its an independent idea or creation you make or think of based upon someone else's. For example, if someone drew Scooby Doo in their own style, you could say you were inspired and draw Scooby Doo in your own style or even draw a different cartoon character in your own style. (People on YouTube might argue this with idea stealing, but I'm not getting into that), but another example, an artist decides to cut woodblock and make a stamp of their OC. You can be inspired to make a woodblock stamp of your pet cat. Someone tries a new shading technique. You can be inspired by that to try a new shading technique too. It's basically one person with an idea and someone getting a relative idea from it. Inspiration is not copying exactly what some else draws, etc. Of course if someone draws ScoobyDoo, you're more than welcome to draw Scooby Fucking Doo. But if someone draws an adopt or OC and then you draw it too and change it a little and all that, that's not inspiration, that's just copying with the defending phrase of "but it's different," or "its not the same." You can be inspired to try new colour palettes someone else has used, but it's not "inspiration" to draw the same exact thing pose for pose, line for line, or make the same design that they did using it, that's just copying, and anyway around it is someone trying to justify copying.
Rip off is kind of what I just touched on, being that it's simply a copy of something claimed not to be a copy because it's changed slightly to not be the same. Rip offs just tend to be more obvious. Its a bad example because they're not very unique overall, but Kalons for example, they have tail shines. If someone made a cat species and let's say they too had shines, but these ones are on their face, instead of tails, that's most likely a rip off. Its a cat species, with shines. Only difference is placement. Again, it's a bad example because there's not a lot of uniqueness, but it's a simple idea. Just adding wings and changing a colour doesn't make it new. Its a rip off. Making it a different gender, giving it a smaller tail, calling it Chester instead of Sally, doesn't make it new. Its a rip off. Rip offs happen at all different levels but are more commonly seen with simple things nowadays because they're easier to rip off. However there are such things as coincidental situations, but like I said, it's typically more common with simple things. Its hard to say that a full black dog with white paws is a rip off of someone else's but it's easier to see that someone ripped off a dinosaur species that have robotic tails, and hooves for feet and beards for both genders when someone makes the same thing, but gives them wings and changes the amount of eyes they must have.
Lastly, creation, that is your own idea. That's where you made a colour palette on your own or just found one, and you pictured a dragon flying in your head and drew it and coloured it with how you imagined it and named it Henry and whatever else. That's your idea. You didn't look at someone's dragon named Harry and just changed the colours. You didn't trace a picture of Spyro and made your own from it without credit, etc.
Hoped that helped. I spared a few details, but I'm sure you get it.

does anyone know how long it usually takes for a mod to see your help ticket/help you delete a drawing?
i mean it took only a couple hours with the few ive ever sent so idk .phe
A few years ago I sent in multiple tickets asking for a few of my older Oekaki/drawing posts to be deleted. Those posts are still standing to this day.
does anyone else wish the art shop oekaki board had a rules post like all the others do? because oh my god there's so many adoptable posts that don't belong there absolutely filling it because the only clarifications for it were on an announcement that I believe isn't even on the front page anymore. it's for art shops, not adopts, as in a shop post, and all orders underneath. this also isn't towards anyone specific or anger towards those who do, as without the rules they may not know it's wrong
If it's clearly adoptables then you can report it and say it's in the wrong forum/Oekaki board. However if they're doing customs and just using the same lines or something then it should be there.
It finally happened to a commission I did for someone on CS, so I want everyone to know that if you post art to toyhouse or any other site with "artist is unknown", fuck you personally. Don't post art if you cannot give credit. You're either a lazy asshole or bought a character from someone who is and that hurts artists big time, even small ones on CS.
I imagine you posted this because you did a commission and then someone put it on their toyhou.se without credit to you.
You know the easiest thing to do? Contact that person and ask them to correct it or report it. You should also have a Terms of Service to fall back on, perhaps including about credit being given at all times.
But it's not everyone else's fault. Be mad at those who are guilty, not those who can't do shit about it. They paid money for something, and that should be able to use it or display it properly. Just because some artist decided to delete every trace of their profiles, not watermark or sign their art, or made it a million times more difficult to find them, it's not the owners fault.
There's a few artists I follow who change their name and get a new profile every 3 months. Frankly I think that's the dumbest shit ever. If I ever got a piece fromthem, I'll give their name and a link to the profile I got it from, but it's not my job to constantly update it by filing through abandonned art accounts to figure out where their current one is. Its up to the artist to make their self easy to find and easy to credit. Name changes and profile redos can be okay, but if you're making it a challenge for anyone to keep up with, that's your problem.
I've got art from 5 years ago with no signature, no watermark, and the only credit link I have leads to a deactivated DA profile. Even that username is nowhere to be found.
At least I put that the artist is unknown but respectively credit still goes to them for the art, not me. I've looked and looked and have come up empty handed. How is that my fault and why should I be punished for it?
back a few years ago, i was bullied by a group of users that were basically running a thread themselves (made by the mods) and the mods didnāt do anything. several rude private messages from the users, i reported them, and my posts from the thread all got taken down. i didnāt do anything at all, i was just trying to contribute to a conversation and change the subject to a topic because the other made me uncomfortable. they told me to get over my own feelings and leave so they could have fun.
Not accusing you of anything, just donāt have all the information here.
But were you being on topic at all? There isnāt supposed to be chat threads, so if you were trying to change the subject to something unrelated to the thread topic entirely, I can see why your posts were deleted.Ā
However, you do mention it was years back... I recall in the early years people did abuse the report button a bit. If there was a thread on Unicorns, but everyone was talking about Legos, and a newcomer started talking about something related to Unicorns, their post(s) would start to disappear. I have seen situations where good posts are removed just for not being on topic of what was currently being discussed, despite the post being about what the whole thread should have been about. If one of those times were you, then Iām really sorry. Thatās just the backhand of poor moderating, but sometimes you canāt really expect much else from people who are new at it, or interpret the meaning differently.
But... if you went to post on a thread of a topic that you werenāt comfortable with, and tried to just change it to something unrelated or tried to prevent others from discussing it, even if being appropriate for the thread topic, then you really canāt complain because you were in the wrong. But Iāll give you the benefit of the doubt and say thatās probably not the case. Itās very common seeing threads on (example) Whatās your favourite colour? and then when you read the posts, itās about turtles eating tomatoes, and if you post about colours, youāre ignored because youāre not talking about tomato-eating turtles. And then people get pissy because youāreĀ āruining their funā while trying to actually discuss the topic and ignoring the off-topic shit.
I donāt know. Iām really sorry though. Hopefully you donāt have to deal with that anymore and they have left you alone by now. Most of the mods seem more sensible now, so if it happens again you might have better luck with not having the tables flipped completely.
i made an oc for thejokerkeepssmiling not knowing they were problematic, they gave me decent shit for the oc i made them but :'/
At least you got something good out of it. Iām not too certain what they do exactly with these characters and all, but Iād keep an eye on it just in case. Some users have been known to break ownership agreements or just down right steal all the credit for the character. Canāt remember if this user was one of them, but thereās enough of them on the site to not be wary.

Iāve been lately told to remove link to my deviantart, because āmy age is shown thereā which is against CS rules. I laughed so hard xddd Just chill dudes.
It is against CS Rules though. Iām surprised they told you versus just removing the link themselves so thereās the plus I guess. Easy fix is just hiding age on your DA page. I think itās a bit stupid too, but I understand why they do it. Their rules, so, you know.
Fuck you anon. White boys are greasy af and if you think they aren't? You're probably a "not all men" white boy. Leave Junkratss alone.
āwheres my hugā .phe
And you're probably an "all men" psychotic femenazi cunt who preaches about equality when all you do is put one side down and boost the other side in a SJW contradictional mess where you scream about not doing one thing and then do it yourself.
You're fucking pathetic.
