Chiba Summer Beer Gardens - Chibeerventure!!
Chiba summers can get a little hot and sweaty (to say the least)! One of the best ways to cool down has to be the numerous summer Beer Gardens that open up for the season. The last week of July saw a very popular beer garden in ＭＴＧ Kaihim Makuhari, home to the baseball team Chiba Lotte Marines.

Summer Beer Garden Entertainment - Chibeerventure!
The beer garden in Kaihim Makuhari also featured live shows dance shows including Hawaiian dancing and Indian Belly dancing. Lots of students from the nearby Kanda Gaigo University took part. Beer, music and dance….a pretty great Chibaventure!

Katori City Rowing Regatta - On The Water Chibaventure!
The holiday weekend (July 16th is Sea Day in Japan, a national holiday!) saw the annual Katori Rowing Regatta. The regatta has a number of teams from different levels competing on the Kurobe River in the North of Chiba near the town of Omigawa. The town itself has a nice old Japan type of feel and those interested in canoeing, rowing or other water sports can try for themselves.
Teams of all levels compete form mixed teams dressed in fancy dress to those a little more serious.
Last year Chiba held the All Japan Sports Competition where teams from all prefectures of Japan gather to compete, the Rowing events were held here...there is even a version of Chibakun himself rowing! A very talented dog! ;)
Katori Rowing Regatta Video
Teams from beginners to the more experienced compete at the Katori Regatta in Omigawa. The regatta is held each year on the third weekend in June. (The link is a bit old but still shows you the details)

KDH Chiba, the team I have rowed with over the last four years were just beaten by the Katori Fire Brigade team and we came in overall second. A great day on the river in a great area and a sporting Chibaventure!
