Has globalisation done more harm or good for the promotion of human rights?
Since the existence of mankind and the world itself, everyone and everything has been developing and changing. All living beings are curious and have a need to explore their surroundings. Countries were created by us, some of us feel comfortable in our surroundings and prefer not to move, while others have a nomadic nature and have a need to move and explore the unknown. Connecting with other cultures, religions, and countries in general is inevitable and we need it in order to move forward with not only our education, but also our kind. There is a good and bad in everything, Globalization has its downsides, and some corporations/governments use it for wrong reasons like human trafficking, slavery, cheap labour, etc. Big corporations like Nike have industries in third world countries because they can produce their products for a very low price, some blame the company, while others blame the country for not providing better jobs to their people. There are a lot of negative aspects, numerous of languages have died out, cultures aren't as important to people anymore, wars have broken out, discrimination occurred, human rights have been violated, etc. WWI, WWII, Apartheid, Genocides, Holocaust, Cold war, poverty and many more horrible events that had happened in the past were caused by Globalization, but the internet, better education, trading and marketing are also a result of it. In my opinion, it has done both harm and good for for the promotion of human rights, but if I had to pick a side I would say it has done more harm. We may have a better economy, better education, and we are able to experience other cultures, but millions of lives were lost in only wars, not to mention genocides and other horrible incidents. People have become extremely materialistic, and started to value money over everything else. A better economy can not replace millions of lives, and while the rich countries benefit from globalisation, the poor ones suffer. If we look at Africa, all the resources have been exhausted by rich countries, people have been left behind to die of hunger; It is developing now, but it's developing from something that could have been avoided.
