The smell was strong.
Gunpowder and soaked clothes. Jason felt like a wet dog coming home with his tail between his legs. Holding onto the door frames, trying to not bump into the walls.
He had hoped the rain would have washed away most of the blood and burnt smell that radiated from his skin, but no matter how much he tried to rub it off, it was still there. Lingering after his every step, after every breath he took.
Each step into your apartment felt like he was contaminating more of the air, that he was diminishing the warmth you exuded so effortlessly.
His fingertips burned as he tried to grab a dry shirt and some sweats to change into, but his hands wouldnât stop shaking.
His mind raced and raced as he couldnât focus enough to grab a single hanger in the closet. He already felt like he was standing underneath a beacon of light from the single bulb illuminating the entire closet and he couldnât afford to wake you up now, you might smell him and you would find him disgusting until he would beg and beg that he could strip all the smell away.
Jason felt dizzy at the thought of you leaving. He had imagined many scenarios, all kinds of ways you would be gone. Tortured, kidnapped, or you simply walking out the door as he watched because you didnât want to love him anymore.
It sickened him. A kind of bile that stuck to his throat when he tortured himself with the thought of you leaving him. He rubbed his face, feeling his calloused hands scratch against his skin as he tried to rub more of the smell away.
He could imagine the sound of your voice, screaming his name in fear or even quietly fading as you faded from his arms.
Sometimes the hallucinations felt so real, like you actually left until he found you at home. Living your life, perfectly fine.
ââon. Jason.â
He instinctively grabbed the knife from his utility belt, so quickly and efficiently that it felt like breathing for Jason.
He was still dizzy, but parts of your face were slowly focusing through his lashes, readjusting until your entire face was clear in his vision. He saw your wide eyes, opened because of the suddenness of him aiming a knife to your neck, but what made him feel even more sick to his stomach was the worried look on your face despite the survival instinct overpowering his brain.
It screamed how much you cared about him. The same man that pointed a blade at you.
He couldnât breathe.
âJason, itâs me. Iâm right here.â You stood still. Watching the intense adrenaline rush from Jason. It had been a while since youâve seen him escalate this badly.
âNo, no. Iâmâyouâre not real.â He pleaded, talking more to himself than at you.
âYouâre home. Youâre back home.â You tried to reach out with your words, giving him something to metaphorically grab onto.
âPlease go away.â
Your heart pinched at his broken words.
âEverything is okay. Iâm okay. I am right here.â You repeated.
As adamant as Jason was about stopping his hallucination, he couldnât raise his voice. He was quietly whispering his pleas as you stood at arms length, confusing his reality and mental images. You didnât waver to call out to him because he felt more wary of you than you did of him.
The blade he held to you was something he hadnât done before and as frightened as you were in that moment, you stayed calm. Not for yourself, but from how much he shook and his disheveled appearance, Jason was just scared.
You continued to speak to him, giving him tender reassurances, explaining and truthfully telling him how safe he was and how he could relax from the anxiety plaguing him.
Jasonâs eyes were relaxing as he listened to your voice, his muscles were loosening his grip from the blade the more in tune he felt with reality, and he suddenly felt all the exhaustion weigh on him. His knife felt so heavy. Every second he was growing more tired as he realized he was safe enough to finally let it go, so he threw it to the side.
The blade bounced to the floor, reflecting and shining the light from the closet back into the dark bedroom.
You took a deep breath watching the blade leave Jasonâs hand, then you looked back to him, seeing his soaked hair stick to his face. His armor caked with dirt and blood blending into the fabric.
As much as you wanted to call Alfred, Jason was in no condition to see another person right now.
As you analyzed him, you saw, physically, how much the night had roughed him up. Jasonâs hands were limp at his side, his head hung to your feet as you stepped closer to him, testing how close he was willing to let you get.
âJay? Youâre still in your armor, we need to get you out of your soaked clothes.â You gently spoke.
He said nothing to you, focusing on pacing his breaths in a way that didnât cause him more anxiety. He kept his eyes closed.
âDo you need my help? I can help, but if you want to do it yourselfââ
He grabbed one of your fingers, his frozen hand stinging your warm one that absorbed the heat from your blankets not too long ago. His large hand held onto your singular finger, feeling your smooth skin, trying to sink into the soothing feeling of physical touch.
You patiently waited, letting him go at his own pace to grasp that he was safe enough to ask for this much from you.
âIâm glad you made it home.â You spoke. Feeling Jasonâs skin trace your knuckles and veins in your hand like he was memorizing and analyzing the living being he cared so much for.
As he continued his small rubs, he eased his touch to a feather light hover over your arm. Feeling up to press his thumb underneath the fabric of your shirt sleeve, mentally talking to himself about the feel of the fabric and its color.
You let him ground himself, taking note of how still you kept your body. All control was in Jasonâs hands like a puppeteer over your entire self. He wanted to scream out to himself that he was selfishly touching you, but he was walking a very thin line of losing his mind any second and the feel of you was keeping him focused on something other than his racing head.
He was so tired that he grasp his hand onto your shoulder to gently pull you toward him, resting his head into your hair, smelling how familiar you were.
He thought you smelt so much better than the gunpowder and burning flesh from his body.
He rested his hand behind your back, slowly feeling up to cusp behind your neck, letting his fingers settle onto your pulse. Counting the thumps and feeling the repeated rhythm he memorized numerous times to fall asleep to.
Jason brought you in closer, matching his breaths to yours because if he felt like passing out, he reasoned to himself that it should be completely because he wanted to be one with you.
You settled your forehead onto his neck, taking a deep breath into his skin.
Jason flinched, feeling his skin tingle to your warm breath exhaling to his hair. He hummed before he was about to pull away from you, remembering his stench.
âIâm sorry, IâŚstink.â Jason apologized, fighting against himself to release you, but also grip you harder.
You pulled him back to you by his neck and arm, leaning his damp hair onto your head.
âYou donât need to apologize. Besides, I love your smell. I think I stink âcause I havenât showered ever since I got back from work.â You lazily smiled up at Jason, appreciating that he was talking to you.
âYou donât smell.â He emphasized, whispering his sincerity into the small space between your bodies.
âI was sweating a lot today, so we can be stinky together if thatâs what youâre worried about.â You comforted him, reaching up to cusp his cheeks. Soothing the redness on his face from his harsh rubs. âWe can wash up together if you want to. Itâs also okay if you want to do it by yourself. Iâm always open to what you tell me, no matter what Iâll be right here until you let me know.â
Jason felt the ease in his shoulders, the voice in his head calming. It wasnât completely silent, but it was a little quieter when you were speaking so gently to him.
âCan we wash up together?â He asked into your palm, rubbing his nose into your warm hand.
âOf course we can. I can get the water ready while you get out of your gear.â
âHm.â Jason agreed into your touch.
âI wonât make the water too hot. I also got a new shampoo yesterday and I havenât used it yet, so we can smell like eucalyptus together.â You could feel Jasonâs frozen nose on your hands. âHon, youâre freezing.â
Your worries were unanswered, leaving you to only furrow your brow at the man in front of you. Jason could only look up from your hands, clearly having nothing to say, but patiently waiting for you to give in to his tender gaze.
He knew you would give in, you always did and he wanted to use it to his advantage to not speak about his night.
He removed his gloves and you heard the slightly damp fabric being pulled from his fingers. With free hands, Jason reached out to rub off the furrowed look on your face, in attempt to cover his tired appearance.
âYouâre lucky Iâm going to be nice about this. I was about one call away to summoning Alfred or I wouldâve drove your motorcycle all the way there if I had to.â
Jason chuckled as he kept kneading the line between your eyebrows. Listening to your stubborn worries that felt like music to his ears as much as he didnât want to admit it.
âThreatening me now?â Jason asked. Amused, but willing to listen to your voice continuously. The way his voice teased you made your heart tingle, enough to distract you for a moment to look at the way his hair fell onto his face. His features were carved by wavy hair, elegantly placed hair strands that made you waver between frustrated and enamored, but unable to stop your heartfelt lecture.
âMaybe you can distract me, but Alfred is too experienced to even consider hesitating with you.â You tried to go move your eyebrows in defiance against Jasonâs thumb, not backing down just yet. âI was about to haul you on my shoulders and dump you onto the back of your motorcycle. I didnât go through all those lessons with you to not use it against you.â
âI knew it, you were always too excited to take it out for a drive. Canât believe my own student was actually plotting against me all along.â Jason held onto your face, shaking his head as he traced your jaw with his fingers.
âItâs called âenthusiasm,â Jason.â You started to feel for the zippers of his jacket, moving your fingers against the leather as you slowly took it off his shoulders, carefully watching his body language to ensure you werenât making him uncomfortable.
âEnthusiasm.â Jason repeated. In the same tone you always swooned at, hearing the familiar low roughness in his voice that was only reserved for you. A dangerous combo as he touched your face so affectionately, you could feel your face heat in the dim closet light. âI know all about enthusiasm.â
He leaned in to slightly peck your bottom lip, feeling his own lips barely touch yours. He felt how dry his lips were, but yours were soft enough to drown out his other worries and insecurities. Enough to feel the intimacy, but not enough to solidify something more.
You smiled, clearly won over by Jasonâs charm. In one swoop you pulled the jacket off Jason, leaving him in his usual patrol skintight top with his emblem reflecting what little light was in the room.
You couldnât imagine the fear that red bat symbol brought to the bad people lingering at night, realizing the bad shit they brought on themselves because that emblem was the last thing they would remember.
But you always liked what was beneath it, what it tried to protect. The part of Jason that he relentlessly tried to hide and you had the patience to slowly unveil every bit of it.
âSave that enthusiasm because we might not be able to wash up if you kiss me one more time.â You rubbed your hands into the back of his neck, feeling the tense muscles and wanting to help him relax for a bit with some warm water and rubbing some shampoo into his hair to hopefully allow him to sleep a little tonight. âClean your gear in the morning, I wanna warm up with a shower and you can help me dry my hair.â
âHm.â Jason agreed as he kept rubbing your lips with his thumb. You felt accomplished as you felt his hands slowly warming from your physical touch.
âIâll get us some fresh towels. Grab the new shampoo after you remove your gear.â You released yourself from Jason and made your way to the bathroom. âIt should be in the bag by the bed. I forgot to take it out.â
With some soreness, Jason removed his utility belt and picked up the thrown knife to safely secure it back in its place. He felt the weight in his eyelids as he made his way to the bathroom, hearing the water turn on.
When he pushed the door open silently, he watched the way you moved. Adjusting the heat of the water, placing freshly dried towels on the counter, and the way you were so perfectly domestic.
Jason didnât want to disturb you, soothing himself to the sight of you after he exhausted himself from the repeated torture his mind put himself through.
When you looked back, the look you gave him almost made him melt to the tile floor. That it was unreal he was allowed this.
You pulled him into the bathroom, much like the other ways you introduced him to various simplicities he started to enjoy in his life.
He didnât want to admit it to you, in case you would be offended, but he cherished how mundane you were. That he could feel as close to ordinary next to you. That the scars that littered him werenât going to drive you away.
Piece by piece, clothing were removed from the two of you. It was comfortable to bare yourself, to share this intimate experience of bathing together. Washing and holding each other under warm water. Massaging and lathering soap.
The steam was filling the bathroom, slight humidity relaxing your skin and your shared scent radiating off each other.
The night was turning into dawn, but you dried each others hair. You gently laid into the bed to slowly rub at Jasonâs head, easing him and yourself into another slumber.

"Well, you can have my Mustang." He drawled, voice low and quiet, as though he didnât want to disturb the night. "That's all I got in my name."
You glanced up at him, the moonlight casting faint shadows across his face, highlighting the lines of weariness that came with the life he led. His eyes, usually hard and distant, were softer now, vulnerable even. Arthur Morgan was not a man who gave easily, and yet, here he was, offering you what little he hadâhis horse, his loyalty, his heart.
You had thought about marriage beforeâwhen you were younger, when life seemed simpler and oblivious. But the image had always been different: a small church, family gathered, maybe even a white dress. Not thisâlying on a dusty cot, surrounded by the wilderness, with Arthur Morgan of all people. But that was the thing about life, wasnât it? It never turned out quite like you imagined.
"Arthur..." You whispered, unsure of how to respond. The weight of his words hung in the air, heavy with meaning. He wasnât just talking about his Mustang. This was Arthurâs way of saying everythingâhis past, his future, his soul. You could feel his uncertainty, the tension in the way his fingers hovered slightly above you bare arm, as if he was waiting for you to make a move, to push him away, to tell him no.
But you didnât want to. God, you would be out of your damn mind if you say no.
You reached up, placing your hand on his, stilling his gentle caress. His hand was large, warm, and rough from years of hard work. It grounded you, made you feel safe in this world of chaos. "I donât need a Mustang, Arthur." You murmured, thumb tracing circles on the back of his hand. "I need you."
His breath hitched almost imperceptibly, and for a moment, no one spoke. You could feel his heartbeat, strong and steady, a reminder of the man beneath the outlaw. You could see the boy in he for the first time, a glimpse of your children. You wondered if he ever imagined this for himself, or if he thought he was too far gone for something like love, like commitment.
"I ainât got much to offer." he finally said, voice hushed, like he was scared the words might break something between you. "Ainât never been good at... well, any of this. You know that."
You smiled softly, shifting closer to him. "Youâre enough, Arthur. Just you. Thatâs all Iâve ever wanted."
He didnât speak for a while, just stared at you, as if he were trying to make sense of how someone could want himâjust him. The world had not been kind to Arthur Morgan, and in many ways, it had hardened him. But beneath the roughness, the gruff words and guarded glances, there was a man who felt deeply, who cared more than he let on.
As if making a decision, Arthur suddenly shifted beside you, reaching into the pocket of his worn coat. You watched, curious, as he fumbled for a moment before pulling something outâa small, delicate ring. The band was thin, silver, and simple, with no extravagant jewels, but to you, it was the most beautiful thing in the world.
He held it out to you, almost sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand. "Picked it up in town a while back." he admitted, eyes flicking up to meet yours. "Didnât know if youâd... well, if youâd want it. Ainât much, but itâs real silver."
Your breath caught in your throat, your heart swelling in your chest. The fact that Arthur had gone out of his way to find a ring, something so traditional, so symbolic, meant more than words could express. You could see the way he was looking at you, searching for some kind of approval, some sign that this was right.
"Arthur..." You whispered, the voice breaking slightly. "Itâs beautiful."
Without another word, he took your left hand in his, his touch gentle but sure. Slowly, almost reverently, he slid the ring onto your finger. It fit snugly, as though it had been made for you, and the cool metal sent a shiver through your skin. The moment felt timeless, as if you were the only two people in the world, surrounded by the quiet wilderness and the faint glow of the stars.
"There." he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "Now itâs official, I guess."
You couldnât help but smile, tears prickling at the corners of your eyes. This was not the wedding you had once imagined, but in every way that mattered, it was better. Arthur Morgan was yours, and you was his, bound not by law or tradition, but by something deeperâsomething unbreakable.
You leaned forward, pressing your forehead against his, the noses brushing, breaths mingling in the cool night air. "I love you, Arthur Morgan." You whispered, the voice thick with emotion. "More than anything."
He closed his eyes, his arms wrapping around you as he pulled you close, his lips pressing softly to your temple. "I love you too." he murmured, the words coming out rough, like they were foreign to him. But they were real, and thatâs all that mattered.
As you rested your head against his chest, feeling the steady rise and fall of his breathing, you looked down at the ring now glinting on your finger. It was simple, yes, but it was yours. Arthur leaned forward, lifting your chin to gave you a kiss. You happily returned, your bodies shifting closer as he embrace you and the lips moved together.
"But Jesus Christ don't break my heart." He whispered. The warm breath brushed on your lips, making you want to kiss him again.
"This wedding ring won't ever wipe off." You promised to him, whispering back.

warnings: mildly creepy guys, standard protective bf methods
Jasonâs good at shutting people up very quickly. Youâd almost call it a talent.
He shuts you up with a kiss when you get stuck in a rant, or with a hug to calm your worried rambles.
And when youâre in an incorrigibly teasing mood, heâll throw you over his shoulder and carry you back to your bedroom to really shut you up.
With other people though, he hasâŚdifferent methods.
You sit atop your kitchen counter, trading lazy kisses in between giggles with your boyfriend. He stands in front of you, hands massaging your thighs as he leans in for another. You happily oblige.
You break off the exchange to lay a series of sweet kisses on that spot under his jaw.
His head tilts back, letting out a groan so low you nearly miss it. âSweetheartâŚâ he warns.
âSorryâŚâ you resign with a sheepish smile.
A knock at the door bursts you out of your shared reverie. You press a kiss to his knuckles and hop down to start setting the table.
Jason gets the door, greeting the pizza guy with a nod as you shuffle around the kitchen. The delivery guy hands him a receipt, asking for a signature.
Jason uses the door as a surface to sign, giving the delivery guy an apt view into your apartment, where he sees you getting out plates in the kitchen. More noticeably, he sees you in your boyfriend's shirt, which rides up just a little bit when you stand up on your toes to reach the top cabinet. The lift of the shirt exposes the bottom of your underwear, though it falls back into place again just as quickly.
Now, lucky for this guy, Jasonâs facing the door and does not see him checking you out in your own home. Unlucky for this guy, he has wildly misread the vibe of your relationship. Or at least your boyfriend.
âMan, how do you get anything done around here?â He jests.
Jason looks up at him, and the pizza manâs eyes tear away from your legs to meet his hard gaze. It does not take him long to realize his mistake.
âTry again.â Jason behests, arms crossed in front of him.
The pizza boyâs eyes go wide and he shakes his head, stuttering. âIâuh, I said have a good night.â
âMhm.â He grumbles.
The pizza guy hands Jason the box with shaky hands and scuttles back down the hallway.
Thankfully, you didnât seem to notice the exchange, but even so, your boyfriend still glowers down the hallway after him.
âJay?â
His attention snaps back to you, demeanor changing instantly. âYeah, baby?â
Youâre sitting in your usual spot at the table, his chair empty and waiting just around the corner from you.
âCome sit.â You say, with eyes that might as well be hearts.
He gives a reassuring nod and kicks the door shut behind him.
You and Jason are sitting on the floor in his old room at the manor, your legs thrown over his. You lean up against his bed, asking him about posters on the walls and trinkets on the shelves.
His knee is propped up and your arm dangles across it, his hand in yours. He plays with your fingers and periodically leans forward to leave a kiss on them.
Youâd just woken up less than an hour ago after spending the night post-gala, and itâs a peaceful, if not unusually quiet morning.
Dick shouts your name from another room, audibly booking it towards you. Yeah. Thatâs more like what Jason remembers.
He grumbles some annoyances, dropping his head against your intertwined hands.
Dick bursts into the room, clearly incredibly excited.
âWhatâs up, Dick?â You ask, calm as ever. Jason lets an unseen smile creep up, head still down.
Dickâs practically jumping up and down, âYou gotta see the shit that Tim just found in the cave!â His face drops as he directs his gaze to Jason, âYouâre not invited.â
âThank God.â
Dick ignores him and grabs your wrist, yanking you up from the floor. This is one place where he differs from Jasonâheâs not always quite so aware of his own strength.
His grip doesnât hurt really, but itâs firm enough that you imagine thereâll be bruise marks there later.
âHey.â Jason calls out, nodding his head to where Dick is holding your arm. âEase up.â
Dick follows his gaze and immediately loosens his hold, apologizing to you before pulling you along once again (this time much more gentle).
You grin at Jason as he tugs you out the door, him returning it with an endeared smile as he watches you go.
Fuck he loves you.
Jason had a decent break from his night job for once, and was happy to let you drag him out to a bar for a little date. Youâd been linked at the hip for most of the night, his hands maintaining their ever present home on your waist with yours rested on his thighs as you told him about your hectic day.
Heâd usually prefer to stay in bed with you for as long as possible when he gets time off, but youâd looked so excited asking him to go out with youâhe never stood a chance.
You look up into the mirror as you wash your hands, a strand of hair falling into your face as you do. You push it back behind your ear and smile to yourself, recalling the several times Jason had wordlessly done the same throughout the night as you rambled.
You make your way back to the bar, smile immediate on your face when you see your boyfriend. It gets replaced rather quickly though, when a man slides in front of you, cutting off your view of him.
âHey there.â
You have to take a step back because of how close he decided to stand to you. He looks sober (enough) but wildly overconfident in whatevers about to happen.
"Let me buy you a drink, pretty thing."
Jason calls you pretty thing sometimes. It makes the blood rush to your cheeks and an inescapable smile creep up on your lips. When this guy says it, it makes you literally frown.
"Oh no, I'm okay, myâ"
"You seem like a dirty martini kinda girl." He expertly ignores you, clearly trying and failing to make some kind of innuendo there.
Jason's sitting back against the bar, watching the interaction carefully. You still canât see him, but heâs close and you can rest comfortable knowing heâs looking out for you.
With that reassurance, you donât play this out quite as carefully as you would if you were alone.
"Look, I don't want a drink from you, thanks."
Apparently that was the wrong thing to say to him because his face contorts quickly to mock-disgust that you figure is really just embarrassment.
âHey, donât be a bitch just âcauseââ
You try to sidestep around him, thoroughly done with this interaction, but he grabs your upper arm harshly, pulling you to an abrupt stop.
Jason stands up real quick, yanking the guy backwards by his collar before you can even process what's happening.
Now, you know that Jason is an objectively intimidating guy. There's not many people that will come face to face with that absolute unit of a man and still decide to keep on trying him. However, you tend to forget that when you're so used to your gentle giant that only ever speaks to you kindly and touches you softly.
But his intimidating status becomes very apparent when the guy spins around, looks up at Jason, and immediately takes four steps back. He actually almost bumps into you in the process, not doing anything to tame Jasonâs acute distaste for this man.
"Listen to meâback the fuck off before you get hurt."
âSheââ
âI donât give a fuck. Leave.â
The guy hesitates.
âNow.â Jason adjusts his posture to stand at his staggering full height, clearly with no qualms about putting him back in his place.
That does it for him, the man stumbllng away with half-committed mumbles of âwhateverâ or âsomething something lame anyway.â
Jason watches him until he walks out the door, before turning back to you.
He delicately takes your upper arm in his hand, pulling your sleeve up to search for bruising. But as harshly as he had grabbed you, it didnât have the time to cause a bruise before Jason intervened.
âWhatâd he say to you?â Jason asks, brow furrowed as he inspects your arm.
âNothing very interesting.â He looks at you mildly.
You smile and comb his hair back from his forehead, âDonât worry about him. Iâm good.â
He lets your arm go, and exchanges it for holding the back of your head, planting a kiss on your forehead.
You take his other hand and guide him back to your seats.
âBesides,â You look over his shoulder and let out a little shocked gasp. âGuess who just walked in.â
He gives you a questioning look before his face slacks, eyes widening in realization.
âNoâŚâ And you smile so brightly it almost makes up for what's coming his way.
You redirect your smile over his shoulder and give a wave to the door. Jason swigs down the rest of his drink, hand finding your waist once again.
âJaybird!â
Jasonâs still exhausted from patrol last night but heâd insisted on going with you to the bar to meet your friends. Youâd tried to convince him that it was okay to stay in and rest tonight, youâd be fine. But it was a losing battle.
You suspect it has something to do with him not liking when you go out in Gotham at night, especially when youâre drinking.
So he hangs out in the background of the buzz, with you sat in front of him, in between his legs.
Youâre talking it up with Roy, whoâs been making jokes about how Jasonâs âmoody assâ tricked you, âthe ray of sunshineâ into this relationship somehow.
You laugh, taking a sip of your drink. âRight, âcause you and Kori were in love at first sight.â
"Oh, fuck off." Roy jeers.
He doesn't say it with the cadence of a joke, but it is.
You know he's joking, he knows he's joking.
Jason, who very well may have been tuned out of the conversation up to that point, does not seem to know he's jokingâor he doesn't care.
You don't need to look behind you to know that your boyfriend is in defensive mode, though the look of regret mixed with amusement on Roy's face gives a solid hint.
You hold your hand out to block Jason his path as he moves forward. He lets you stop him, though you're certain he could get past you without so much as blinking, no problem.
"Right. My bad, forgot your guard dog was here. Don't fuck off." Roy backtracks, hands up in front of him.
Jason just rolls his eyes, slouching back down. You reach behind you for his hand, giving it two squeezes. You know heâs tired, so much so that he almost punched his best friend for making a typical joke.
âFive more minutes, okay?â You say softly over your shoulder.
He nods at you blearily, and ducks his head down to rest on your back. You adjust your posture a little bit to make it more comfortable for him and continue on talking, his hand still in yours.
If he hadnât fallen asleep so quickly, five minutes wouldâve been five minutes, but instead it became something more like fifty.
He goes through patches where sleep isnât always so welcoming, a phase heâs been in for the past couple of weeks. Youâd been waking up to find the bed half empty, your boyfriend resigned to doing research on cases in an attempt to at least be productive while heâs awake.
You canât protect him in the same ways that he protects youâyouâre not a fighter or necessarily âintimidating.â But you can protect him like this, in these little ways. Letting him nap on you, making him close the case files and rest with you, holding his hand throughout the night so that when he inevitably has nightmares, he knows immediately that youâre still with him. That heâs safe.
So if he can get some much needed sleep while only costing you a stiff back tomorrow, youâll happily take that deal as many times as he needs.

Iâm afraid I have an itch only Arthur Morgan can scratchâŚ.

Btw, I believe Arthur only looks like this when the game considers him to be âoverweightâ Iâve never seen his biceps this big, even when heâs at âperfectâ weight ;)
