“I love that show too! I love the Drag Queens.” There was nothing better to Chester than someone living their true life. He was pleased to be outside, although the amount of alcohol he consumed that night seemed to be hitting him. He sank to the floor, legs outstretched in front of him. This was going to become a downward spiral, he felt.Â
“No. No I’m okay, thank you.” He didn’t want Aspen to leave him. He didn’t want to sit out here on his own. “Will you sit with me, please?”
Aspen giggled. “I know.. We should watch the finale together? Since dads away.. I’ve been really lonely ..” she admitted. “He.. Uh.. He’s moving to the UK you know?” she looked at Chester. Sure she was an adult.. But now - she just felt like a little girl. And a little lost. But she knew that Chester would look after her. She looked down at him and knew he wasn’t alright. When he asked she nodded and moved to sit beside him resting on his shoulder. “How is it that we’ve found ourselves out here..” she laughed softly and moved to squeeze his hand. “How is everything going Chessie.. What’s really.. going on?”
"Oh, he did?" Chester asked, surprised at that. "We should watch it together, yes." He agreed. It seemed that Aspen might have been feeling lonely as well. He was grateful that she sat with him, pressing his lips to the side of her head as she placed her head on his shoulder.
"I really miss Frank." Chester finally admitted quietly, looking down at his hands. "I feel so lost without him and... I know I need to start moving on, it's been almost six years... but I don't know how. I don't know how to be without him."
He could feel the lump building in his throat, and he bit his bottom lip hard. "I just think it's because I'm here and we would always go to parties together. I haven't been to one without him."
