✨Opal is ready for her close-up!
This confident and curious otter explores the world with her teeth. Behind Opal’s fluffy whiskered face is a powerful bite rivaling the king of the jungle! 🦁
Orphaned Opal was rescued and raised behind the scenes as part of our sea otter surrogacy program. Now this sparkly otter’s making a splash by inspiring conservation and awareness for her threatened species.
We’re working with Opal in hopes she’ll become a surrogate herself one day, giving orphaned pups a second chance at survival by teaching them the skills they need for re-release into the wild. 💙

He loves to play around lol
Melo walks this slow now but he means the world to us ❤️
Murres and puffins, our winter seabird fashionistas! ❄️
Tufted puffins are called “parrots of the sea” for their famously flashy breeding season colors. But when there’s no pressure to show off for potential mates, they dress down for winter in more understated black feathers. 🖤
So how do you tell the difference between our murres and puffins this time of year? Our aviculturists are showing, not telling, with these scientifically sharp and seasonally-specific seabird styles!
The social behaviors of these seabirds also help set them apart. In the wild, common murres form dense colonies to stop their eggs from rolling off the steep cliffs where they breed. These black-and-white beauties often huddle together on exhibit, while puffins tend to be more solitary.
Are you an elegant murre or cozy puffin? Tell us in the tags! 🔄

HELLO MAY I SEE SOME DIVING BEETLES PLEASE IF THEY ARE NOT TOO BUSY?
Absolutely! We all live for the black and yellow submarines!
Bubble butt? SCUBA beetle! Diving beetles grab a bubble of air they carry with them like a SCUBA tank to get more bottom time. Hope these good good beetles work for you!

And now for a sight not normally seen, we present to you: An *adorable* sand crab butt
These delightfully diminutive decapods spend most of their time burrowed in the sand but swim in a manner most unusual for a crustacean. While most crabs can move in all directions—forward, backward, sideways—a sand crab scoots only in reverse.
One of our 2019 resolutions was to share this ocean sunfish photo with you. How did we do?!

Nowadays, INTEGRITY is doing the right thing when there’s CCTV? SMH good thing, I know where the blind spots are LOL
Turtley awesome! Our green sea turtles are each over 60 years old—and no one is quite sure how old their species may live to be! But we can help them live to their full potential by skimping on plastics.
