I haven't seen anything like this in TGS fandom and I think this would be a fun way to celebrate the comic coming to a end.

I'm thinking this song would be really fun w The Glass Scientists. Please tell me if your interested and your thoughts on the idea. I'll only do it if I see a big enough interest in it. (I don't wanna make the mistake of starting a MAP without enough animators)

Context:

I’m gonna be completely honest I only had a vision for the first half, I kinda winged the rest.

Either way, this is my first animatic and my first time properly drawing Lanyon so please don’t bully me too hard :’D this has cost me my sanity



YOU WANNA HEAR THE RANT YOU WILL GET THE RANT

OKAY SO I don't really know how to do this so I'm just gonna start talking, this is probably not going to include EVERYTHING but it's fineeeeeee

In TGS we find out that Lanyon despite having no hobbies is actually good at a lot of things, and we see that he has a habit of getting REALLY into something and getting really good at things like the violin before just,, quitting, (this also applies to his relationship (cough cough, short affairs that he ends before it becomes anything serious cough cough his relationship with Jekyll cough))

Jekyll questions this as he himself doesn't have the same attitude to commitment, in fact he may have somewhat of the opposite attitude towards it, when he commits, he commits, these different attitudes are shown in the animatic when we see

1. Lanyon place down his violin, which then 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 becomes infested and

2. Jekyll playing the piano even as it's being eaten from the inside by rats,

This also holds an slight analogy for their relationships with the society, Lanyon is fully ready to quit while Jekyll is going down with the ship

another detail is that the rats in the piano are Griffin's invisible rats hold an analogy for how Jekyll can see the effects of his problems but not the problems themselves (he can see that the piano is being damaged but not why)

and also when we get to the end we get to see something that I didn't completely capture on both sides (gotta work on Jekyll) we get to see how they balance each other, Jekyll encourages Lanyon to commit to what he enjoys and I do wish I could capture Lanyon's way of also encouraging Jekyll to step back and take breaks every once in a while as to not lose himself in his work, but the song is about the music so I can't exactly have him not play

bonus facts:

This is less a fact about the animatic and more just something i wanted to point out, the song starts with the line "my sweethearts piano is rat-filled" and Lanyon calls Jekyll his doe eyed sweetheart

I'm pretty sure Lanyon hates bugs in canon, or at least dislikes them so i thought that the bugs thing fit very well with him, its like a representation of how his relationships turn sour
