Really thought yellow goache would cover up the blues that got into the gold trimmings in Zelda’s shirt. But I’m happy with how it turned out.
I used either Bromeijia Watercolor pad or Motarro Watercolor pad (I was painting this and another piece at the same time), they’re both good and quite inexpensive —200~ and 100~ PHP, respectively— they both have 300 gsm and they can handle much more water and pigment. The Motarro one just came with sheets.

I used a certain character artwork from a certain long-running game series as a pose reference. Can you guess which it is?
This Ralsei art is a bit more on the cutesy side. I decided to give her* a more chibi-fied face:body proportions for now as my paper size is just A5 and me doing a more realistic ratio will make detailing harder. I'll probably make a reference for her in a later date but for now, you get an unrefined scan. I might also draw her in different dresses as well as the supremely elegant butler outfit. The next one is definitely the Blue Dress of Trans Symbolism, though.
*most of my art—especially Ralsei art—will specifically feature Girlsei. Thus, regardless of canonicity, my art will subscribe to Girlsei and will mostly refer to Ralsei with she/her and maybe they/them pronouns. Ralsei here is a girl here in my sort-of-AU. This is not unlike Dess/[insert candidate] Knight posting where people refer to their Knight candidate of choice as if they are frfr the Knight or how people read the text based on the Knight they believe in and make art/theories/fanworks that is influenced by that reading. I am a [Girlsei Truther] making [Girlsei art] and [Girlsei Yappings] and I am a [Rudy/CaRudy/Dual Knight Truther] making [Rudy Knight yappings.] and my art, yappings, and other works & posts will reflect that. In the chance of Girlsei not being canon, I will make like a Wikipedia editor and replace all she/her Ralsei with the appropriate pronouns—this will only happen in my art posts and tentatively, yappings.

I really like how this one turned out despite making her apron thingy a bit too big. I'm still having problem with precision with oil pastels but I still like it. I feel like I will have to accept even more little imperfections and going over the lines in my oil pastel art pieces as compared to other mediums. The oil pastels really make it hard me to not go over the line. It's too bulky to be precise and the way to shaves off quickly in textured paper also doesn't help. Before trying out oil pastels again, I actually watched some art videos during my daily doomscrolling and it's mostly about color theory in oil pastels.
I know about color theory and stuff but I'm still trying to get a feel of doing stuff in oil pastel so I feel like I'm going to play it safe for now. I feel like I'm a bit thrown off by how opaque oil pastel is compared to watercolor. That said, colored pencils did help me with the precision and lining. It just kinda sucks that the pencils itself ain't that great even if used by itself and not on oil pastels. So I had to used the rainbow (pastel and neon version) pencils as well as the blue/red pencils due to it being more pigmented.
Man, used to love this show. I had my papa record this show using an old Nokia phone a while back when I had the morning schedule in elementary school when the Filipino dub version was airing on TV. I really loved the voice acting work by the dubbers and rewatching it (in Youtube) made me appreciate the score. I especially love the score that accompanies Daimao and the score that played when Chacha and friends sacrificed their respective accessories. Despite of some things that… definitely did not age well (mostly the thing with Doris), it was still good and I really love it. The soundtrack and score (especially Youkoso Magical School he and Egao Ga Sukidakara), the plot, the anime original magical girl outfit (that is similar to the tunic that heroes like Link and Robin Hood wears and the tunics Greek heroes are depicted in), and EEEEEEEEEE!!! I just love it
More yappings with the Watercolor Pad review as well as the process and reference, and the alternate versions below:
This was a test run for a new watercolor sketchpad that I bought in Pandayan. It was supposed to be a practice doing more poses than just standing still or the face portraits i usually draw in my sketchbooks. So, I went to my laptop and used one of the screenshots from the show as reference — the pose she strikes when she wins the fight using the Bird Shield, specifically. Then I used my watercolor pencils (Faber Castell, the classic red ones) to do the sketch. Then I did the lineart using a normal pencil (or my graphite pencil that is a bit lighter). Then I used my Seamiart watercolor set to color my work.
I really wanted to give this fiery effect for Chacha’s hair. So I added some reds in her blond hair and I used my pearlized watercolors for the gems and some of her magical gears (and as usual, they didn’t show up as iridescent as I liked it to be :c ). And I wanted to do a glowing effect where light is emanating from her through the darkness but eeeeehh uhhhh…
This was supposed to be a test run and I was going to just be using my watercolor set and markers, and just leaving it at that. But I got carried away and threw every shit I have at it even after I signed it 😅. Like putting white ink in the white areas in the wing thingies and the highlights and using glitter pens in the certain areas like her hair and the jewerly.
I used the Yalong Watercolor Pad A4 200gsm — which, for Filipino peeps, can be bought in Pandayan stores. It’s ok. It was quite inexpensive. Iirc between 100-200 php for 20 sheets. It’s probably ok if you’re still starting out but it’s kind of… euh.
Pigment doesn’t immediately sit on top of it—initial layers get absorbed into the paper—but if you do many layers of watercolor, it tends to lift off instead. I use a lot of water for my work so it probably contributed to that, but still. The colors don’t really show up as nice as compared to the other cheap watercolor papers I used and they bleed easily even if the paper is dry before adding another layer. Which isn’t that bad cuz it was the same as the watecolor paper I used in the Studying the Masters art I did a long time ago in terms of how colors go into it and a part of how the colors appear on the paper is definitely skill issue. That alone didn’t make it kinda bad. You can just modify your techniques and use less water and layers but it was so flimsy after adding the colors. I had to be very light-handed when I used my 0.01 felt tip pen after finishing my work because it would tear a little and even then, I had to stop lining using the pen. And if you looked at the area below the scarf, you could see those black lines that is kind of the way the paper is textured underneath.
Overall, despite it’s flaws, it was a nice watercolor pad to start with for beginners. It’s just flimsy after adding watercolor on it. It’s great if you’re using it to practice, just starting out, or if you’re doing a test run on where your colors and shadows are going in your lined drawings before using your real good papers to render your lined works for the final version. You could also use it for watercolor doodles, pieces that require less water or pigment, or just for a look that this specific watercolor paper can give you.

Surprise! I actually did two oil pastel art in one afternoon/evening. This one is more in line with my take on Ralsei's design. I have a some thoughts going through my head when doing my take on Raly's design that I will elaborate on once I post the fully edited versions of the these two recent Ralsei art. Two of which are that Ralsei has curly fur (sometimes cinnamon swirls like this one and sometimes more human-looking curls) and that Ralsei is a bit on the plumper side. They're not just a fluffy goat/titan/prince(ss)/bunny but they're also thick. Don't be a perv, I'm just bringing out the softness in our Angel.
Yes yes, I boofed up the hands but that's a skill issue to be expected. She has fangs too but I couldn't make it work because they were too big for me to be precise, I'll edit in post.
I might make more Ralsei art with different dresses as well as make a reference sheet for the dress (it was quite hard for me to make the dress as accurate as possible).
Like with the previous piece, I'll post the final version after scanning and editing it.

I usually sketch my art with my non-photic light blue pencil and line it using a No.2 (HB) pencil or a pen (so it's still slightly visible after erasing the bluesketch). This time, I decided to line my art using my rainbow pencils (M&G Rainbow Pastel pencils) as I figured it would fit the vibe of the piece. It turned out that colored pencils really blend well with oil pastels (probably because it's wax/oil-based). Normal graphite pencils were also great for lining over oil pastel and it was better for using it to sign my oil pastel stuff (compared to the felt tip pens I used in my previous Ralsei art), however they appear shiny in person seeing as Ralsei's eyelashes ended up being too shiny for my taste.
It's actually really hard to make defined lines and shapes using oil pastels, I might use more colored pencils and probably look for old friction pens (I hear that the rubber part is good for precise blending) or maybe use a thin blending stump.
Yes yes, it doesn't look like our Raly Paly but in my defense this is my first time of drawing her as well as drawing an anthro/furry character. My experiences with drawing our dear Goat(?) Prince(ss?) is doodling their hatted face sprites in my sketchbook, random scrap papers, and our classroom whiteboards so I'm still trying to get a proper feel of drawing them.
I got some new silicone oil pastel blenders (don't exactly know what its exact name is but I'm calling it that) so I wanted to draw some blorbos to test it out but I figured Katarina could take a step back as my [new art supply tester] and let a different blorbo be my muse. So in honor of [Deltarune One Month Ago], here's some Prince(ss) of the Dark art that I made to get a feel of drawing my take on Ralsei as well as to first test my new oil pastel blenders.
Will post the final edited ver. as soon as I properly scan it. Posting this final unedited version rn so you guys can have something that isn't just from the previous Cheeze-nuts blog.

Lots of first times here. First time trying to draw anthro characters. First time making oil pastel art this year. First time drawing Ralsei beyond silly doodles in random papers and classroom boards. First time drawing Ralsei in Girlsei context (most art of Ralsei will be in context of Girlsei btw, this is my Knight Theory). And first time using rubber/silicone oil pastel blender to smooth out oil pastels.
I used an A5 Joy 200gsm Watercolor Pad as the paper (it's not the best for watercolor but it held up well against my oil pastel magic) and I used Dong-A 36 colors oil pastel.
