It has beautiful art, an interesting concept, however... Clearly the author has no connections to any rape victims. A side character was raped by a count, and the MC needed some documents and to get some things from the count, so she went into the room alone with the rapist and then used a power on him.
be aware, she could have inflicted almost any kind of pain on him, but guess what? all she inflicted on him was itchiness... a man that has raped multiple women, and his punishment is itchiness? what the fuck? she can also revert her power back too, so she could've done so much worse without anyone knowing, and then somehow he literally loses his mind because of that?? what??? how tf did he go insane from itchiness? like sure she scared him making him think he was going to die from the itchiness, but still?
personally I remove a star when rape is brought up since its almost always just a drama mechinism, its not to shed light on the awful topic and help victims in any way, shape, or form.Â
However, this one lost all its stars from me when they showed the victims again and they were talking about the MC like shes some goddess that saved their lives, physically and mentally. they said she cured their mental wounds by giving them the money from the rapist count, and all I have to say about that is I wish money cured mental wounds in reality but that's completely ignorant to put in a story.Â
it was more clear than ever that the author was using the victims in the story in order to make the MC look like a saint, this isn't the first time I've witnessed that in a story, but however, these are RAPE VICTIMS, not just abuse or bully-victims.
if you know someone who is a victim, or you yourself are a victim, you know better than anyone that money won't remove the memories of such a horrible incident. sure, it's nice to get material compensation, but if I was one of the ladies that had gotten raped, I would've wanted to see the bastard that committed the vile crime hanging in the street. I would've wanted to hear about all the awful things that happened to him.
Also, to any aspiring authors out there, if you're trying to make your villain a villain, you don't need to make them a pedophile or a rapist. there are plenty of things you can make a villain do without making them do something that might ruin the story for many people. have them kick puppies, drunk driving, curse at women and children, or just standard abuse. those things will have others cheer for their demise.
the authors ignorance has ruined the story for me, its really a shame since it has potential.
