My goodness! Nearly a year since I last posted, that is terrible. In my defence things have been a bit busy, moving house and trying to get things straight. Doesn't help that I no longer have anywhere to work (although that should be changing soon). I wanted to share a couple of things here that I'm relatively happy with. The first is the reworking of the bannister rail on our upstairs landing. This was previously covered in poly and was a rush job. The result was rough and not all that pleasing. I reworked this over the weekend with some sandpaper, a few coats of shellac and some beeswax polish. It's now an absolute pleasure to run your hands over! The other, slightly less exciting part of the weekend was running a small piece of wood long the base of the bannisters to hind some _really_ poor workmanship. the floorboards didn't meet the bannisters and someone had obviously tried to leaver the boards underneath at a later date leaving a unsightly hole. The small strip I fitted fixes that up nicely.
