On one hand, I love the soft visual of Eve being placed in the garden, stirring awake, instinctively drawn toward Adam, finding him asleep & kneeling at his side, seeing something beautiful for the first time; very fairy-tale fantasy... On the other hand, I really like the visual of Michael / Sera holding her by the scruff: a freshly made, unrefined creation, bloodied, hissing, twisting in their grip with no composure whatsoever, telling him this 3-apples-tall thing is his new wife & Adam is just 😐
The prevailing fandom assumption is that the first figure is Michael, mainly because the silhouette bears a strong resemblance to Lucifer's. Since many depictions frame them as mirrored counterparts or sibling figures, that reading has gained a lot of traction. Personally, though? My attention has always gone to the second image [ this angel is actually the first in the lineup, starting from the left-hand side. ] They're all tall, but something about the proportions of that one [ the build combined with the size of the head ] makes him feel taller than the rest [ visually; for me, at least. ] The halo is the most elaborate of the group, & it actually reminds me a bit of Lute's pilot halo [ her halo is pretty intricate there, ] Add the massive eye motif, & I can't help but think about the standard Exorcist design with the crossed-out eye. Obviously this is all speculation, assuming these figures are meant to represent Michael, Gabriel, & the other archangels at all, but I've always looked at that one & thought, that's probably Michael.
My current thinking is that there are two possible ways Hazbin's cosmology works.
The first is that an Abrahamic-style God exists & originally created a primordial embodiment of creation itself. At some point, that being was divided into two opposing aspects: Good & Evil. Following that, God created Heaven & the first order of Elders as a means of containing Evil & allowing Good to flourish. Good is intrinsically tied to Heaven while Evil becomes intrinsically tied to Hell. Both are woven into their respective realms. Sera would be one of the youngest members of that original order, or perhaps she was specifically made for the intents of a newer realm of Heaven, ( humanity's Heaven. ) Earth, humanity, & Heaven's relationship with humanity would effectively be her first major assignment. Humanity feels ancient from a mortal perspective, but to immortal beings it is actually a relatively recent project. Managing its development, overseeing Heaven's involvement with it, & maintaining order would largely fall to Sera,
The second possibility, which I honestly think is more likely, is that the Abrahamic God simply doesn't exist in this universe at all. Instead, what people interpret as "God" is actually Good. Good & Evil were always separate primordial forces responsible for creation, but they fundamentally disagreed on how reality should be governed & eventually separated. From that point forward, Good effectively occupies the narrative role of God while Evil becomes its direct counterpart. Good creates Heaven & everything associated with it. Angels worship Good because Good is, for all practical purposes, the creator deity. Just as Evil's presence is embedded throughout Hell, Good's presence is embedded throughout Heaven. Sera may actually be the oldest of the Elders rather than the youngest. She could even be the one who created the Elder order herself, appointing figures such as Michael, Raphael, Gabriel, & the others to specific responsibilities. Their duties would simply lie elsewhere while Sera remains focused on Heaven's administration & humanity...
Let's count. Besides Lucifer, there are six fellow Seraph. Now count the angels watching over Adam & Lute in the Eden imagery. Also six. Am I about to use this as evidence that Eve already met Michael in Eden? Absolutely; in this essay, I will—
Also note: Six eyes... in my delusional mind, I associate those with the six Elders we see cast Lucifer out, which ties neatly into my own lore where the Elders are the first order created directly by God [ to ward off Evil & allow Good to thrive. ] That would also explain why Sera appears to pray to them... That said, the more likely explanation: the eyes are probably meant to represent the Good entity itself. If Hazbin ultimately replaces the Abrahamic God with a Good/Evil duality, then the eyes may simply be visual shorthand for that higher benevolent power,

You know, for whatever reason, it never occurred to me that Good & Evil might simply occupy the role that the Abrahamic God normally would in this universe. I think I just automatically assumed God existed as a separate figure because characters say "God" constantly, there's a Speaker of God, & so much of the show's imagery borrows from Abrahamic traditions. My brain always defaulted to: God exists, God created Good & Evil, Good & Evil created or influenced everything else,
But now that I'm actually thinking about it, the possibility that Good itself is literally the God of this setting isn't that much of a stretch. Honestly, I'm not entirely prepared for that possibility because so much of my framework for Lute has been built around the assumption that there's still a capital-G God sitting somewhere above all of this. If Good turns out to be the highest divine authority instead, I'm going to have to rethink some of my lore assumptions,
The show arguably points in that direction already. Charlie's narration specifically says that Heaven worshipped Good. I always interpreted that as God remaining an unspoken presence in the background while Good was simply another divine figure that He made. Looking back, though, that may have been an assumption on my part rather than something the narrative was actually telling me,
Sorry, guys, I just realized I may be confusing people whenever I throw around terms like "Seraph" & "Archangel." I was raised in a completely different faith tradition, so my brain defaults to a different 'hierarchy.' In the framework I grew up with, the title "Archangel" is reserved exclusively for Michael/Jesus. He's his own distinct category & occupies a unique position. Below that are the Seraphs & Cherubs, which, interestingly, aren't actually ranked; they're treated as different classifications of heavenly beings than higher/lower offices. So when I refer to the Elders as "archangels," that's theology bleed-through on my part. What I actually mean in Hazbin terms is Seraphim, since that's the terminology the show itself uses. My bad 😭

Lute does not engage with sex; it holds no function for her. She frames herself as something set apart [ rebuilt with purpose ] so she doesn’t reach for labels like “virgin,” which read to her as overly human & reductive. Technically, per this blog’s canon, Lute has had encounters that carry that kind of physical / invasive undertone [ a rib taken @/kakodaimones; a rib inserted @/stadam, ] & off the record there’s an encounter (or twenty) with Michael [ @/archmight ] that may or may not have happened yet(?) & off the record [ fucking your boss's boss is fine when it's off the clock, right? ] so this all exists within her history, but ahh... she won't talk about them,
Sometimes Lute feels an itch to look inward, to examine what she contains; an old, persistent curiosity that never quite settles. It isn’t just indulgent or impulsive; it's also a drive to understand the construction of her own flesh-vessel, its limits, its mechanisms. That impulse existed even in Eden; especially now, with her rib [ her life source ] being baptized in Michael's ichor.
