Hermione had barely registered Ginny’s words, having been attempted to fall asleep, feeling exhausted despite not having done anything. The harsh slam of the compartment door surprised her, her head jerking up looking in the direction of the door, seeing the familiar red-head leaving the compartment, her legs moving of their own accord after her.
Catching up rather quickly, she tapped Ginny on the shoulder, offering her a warm smile, her eyes seeming to convey the exhaustion she felt. “Still up to eating?” She asked, trying to gauge if it would be better to leave the ginger alone for the time being.
Being confined in a relatively small compartment for the foreseeable future hadn’t seemed all that bad when they learned of the news, but it couldn’t have been more than an hour before Ginny had gotten anxious. It was too quiet and too loud all at once. Even in dead silence it was like she could hear everyone’s thoughts echoing off the walls.
The feeling dulled slightly as the door closed behind her, despite other students still roaming around. She let out a relieved sigh, closing her eyes for just a moment, smiling to herself. Her ears caught the familiar noise of the trolley, however, and all the worries washed away for the moment. It was just as she recognised where the noise was coming from did she whip around in response to the hand on her shoulder. She gave a relieved smile when she caught sight of a familiar face.
Her mood lightened instantly at her friend’s words, the anxious feeling in her chest deflating. "Always," she answered, grinning slightly, nodding her head to the direction of the trolley. "C’mon, before Ron remembers and tries to buy out all of the Jelly Slugs. Those poor first years won’t stand a chance."
